On September 26, the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ngai province said that it had received a response from the Ministry of Transport regarding the proposal of voters of this province to upgrade Provincial Road 623 to National Highway 24D.
Quang Ngai province needs to upgrade provincial road 623 to ensure new regulations have a basis for upgrading to a national highway.
In the reply letter of the Ministry of Transport, it is stated: According to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the National Highway 24D route is 124km long, with a scale of level III - IV roads, with a width of 2 - 4 lanes. Of which, the section through Quang Ngai province is 42km long, the remaining part through Kon Tum province.
According to the plan, the route from Son Tay District Administrative Center to Ta Meo (Son Lien Commune, Son Tay District) connecting Kon Plong District (Kon Tum) will be converted into National Highway 24D.
However, to convert from provincial roads to national highways, according to the Prime Minister's regulations in Decision 1454, local roads planned to become national highways in this decision will only be upgraded to national highways after investment ensures the scale meets technical standards according to the planning and is not lower than the scale of a level IV road, 2 lanes.
Therefore, Quang Ngai province needs to invest in provincial road 623 to ensure regulations according to the planning scale so that the Ministry of Transport has the basis to upgrade it to national highway 24D.
Previously, Quang Ngai voters made a recommendation to the National Assembly Delegation of this province to soon upgrade Provincial Road 623 to National Highway 24D to promote socio-economic development and ensure national security and defense.
It is known that provincial road 623 has an investment point in Di Lang town (Son Ha) and an end point at Ta Meo bridge (Son Lien commune). The current road status is mountainous traffic, some sections are paved with asphalt, some sections are concrete.
