Maintaining a long-standing reading habit, Tan Tai said that at each stage, age or space, he will have different choices of books. He often carries small pocket books on inspirational topics, reading them when stressed at work. Meanwhile, the MC will choose books with more depth to "put on the bedside". When traveling or driving, he prioritizes e-books and audiobooks.

“10 years ago, there was a milestone that made my love for books grow even more, that was when I started writing my first short story. Having been in the profession for quite a while, sometimes I thought I seemed to have enough experience, but that was an opportunity for me to discover that I still had many shortcomings. To write well, I realized that I had to read more.”

Besides, as the MC of HTV News Center, journalist Vo Huynh Tan Tai has the opportunity to be invited to participate in many book programs of the city. The more he participates, the more he loves books.

“As an insider, I see the vitality and deeply feel the development of books and reading culture in Ho Chi Minh City. The city’s leaders are very interested and have great affection for the development of books and reading culture,” Tan Tai shared.

No longer a vague concept, many practical reports have reflected a vivid picture of the city’s reading culture. The number of printed copies has increased steadily over the years, and the number of bookstores and book publishing companies has also increased…

Instead of choosing electronic devices and smart devices for entertainment, Tan Tai could not hide his joy when saying that many families today choose to let their children access books early. Book streets, book fairs, book-related activities... are gradually becoming entertainment spaces for families. These activities take place continuously and are increasingly diverse in content, rich in form, and growing in scale.

“People working in the printing and publishing industry have kept up with the trend, reading their readers, especially the young. From there, they create publications that attract and convince buyers. Like a few days ago, a brother gave me a book about politics . It is not simply content and a few illustrations, but is expressed through images, a lively and intuitive layout. From there, a political book is no longer dry as we think, but can be accessible to everyone,” he shared from the perspective of a journalist.

Along with that, e-commerce platforms are constantly developing, making ordering and buying books easier than ever. With just a few clicks, a few hours later, the book you like will be delivered to your home.

“In the age of technology, we can explore ourselves and learn the value of knowledge in any way we can. Many people do not find interest in reading paper books, but they can access knowledge through audiobooks, podcasts, etc. And podcasts are also a type of content that many young people and digital content creators love. As journalists and MCs, we will develop more of these products and spread them to readers,” MC Tan Tai pointed out.

On the occasion of the second Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day - 2023, journalist Vo Huynh Tan Tai and his colleagues have carried out a book project to mark the 5-year milestone of the reality show The TV Face - Television Face. All reporters, editors, and MCs who worked on this project have articles in the book, expressing their feelings about the job. "Working as a host, I realize that to speak well, one must start with writing, and to write well is related to reading," MC Tan Tai emphasized.

As the author of two book projects, journalist Vo Huynh Tan Tai won the international award "Influencer on digital platforms - Best Influencer" presented by Korea.

As an author, Tan Tai believes that at this time, writers need to pay more attention to niche markets to easily achieve results. “For example, the book I am about to release will focus on those who are working as MCs. Then we can expand to those who love the MC profession, love MCs…”, he said.

Along with his sharing, journalist Vo Huynh Tan Tai also wondered: "Is it time for reading culture to become an official subject taught from primary, middle and high school?" Because according to him, "culture" must be something that is deeply ingrained in the subconscious, forming the foundation and habits of each person. A country with a reading culture will progress a lot, because the treasure of knowledge from books is endless.

The second Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day - 2023 is the first year that Ho Chi Minh City has 10 reading culture ambassadors. They are people who have the power to spread and inspire reading. As reading culture ambassadors for the 2023 - 2024 term, they will be active figures in promoting information about the second Book and Reading Culture Day - 2023 and participating in exchanges in activities with content suitable for each field and profession.
