In May, the US halted a shipment of 2,000-pound and 500-pound bombs over concerns about their impact in Gaza.

"Our primary concern is the use of 2,000-pound bombs in Rafah, which is home to more than a million Palestinian refugees. Since the concern is not with 500-pound bombs, they are being delivered as usual," the US official said.
A 2,000-pound bomb can penetrate thick concrete and metal, creating a wide blast radius. Meanwhile, a 500-pound bomb causes less widespread damage but is still highly destructive.
In June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Washington was withholding arms and asked US officials to rectify the situation. Biden’s aides expressed disappointment and confusion at the Israeli leader’s remarks. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant later said there had been significant progress in delivering weapons from the US.
Despite the halt in one shipment, Israel continues to receive other weapons from the US. Since the Gaza war began last October through the end of June this year, the US has delivered at least 14,000 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs, 6,500 500-pound bombs, 3,000 Hellfire missiles, 1,000 bunker-buster bombs, and many other weapons.
