According to CNN, President Biden has just announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $400 million.
This is the third military aid package for Ukraine announced by the US in less than three weeks, following two other packages totaling approximately $7 billion announced late last month.
The aid package was implemented under the Presidential Resource Adjustment Authority (PDA), a law that allows the U.S. government the flexibility to transfer certain defense resources and equipment to partners in emergency situations without congressional approval. The Biden administration has repeatedly used the PDA to provide military aid to Ukraine. This move comes amid Kyiv's announcement that Moscow is launching an offensive against the Kharkiv province in northeastern Ukraine.
According to Reuters, announcements from the Washington administration indicate that the US is gradually returning to a regular pace of arms deliveries to Kyiv, after the US House of Representatives passed a $95 billion security aid bill for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan at the end of April.
