US provides $400 million in military aid to Ukraine

According to CNN, President Biden has just announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $400 million.

This is the third military aid package for Ukraine announced by the US in less than three weeks, following two support packages with a total value of about 7 billion USD announced late last month.

The aid package was implemented under the Presidential Resource Adjustment Authority (PDA), a law that allows the U.S. government the flexibility to transfer certain defense resources and equipment to partners in emergency situations without congressional approval. The Biden administration has repeatedly used the PDA to provide military aid to Ukraine. This move comes amid Kyiv's announcement that Moscow is launching an offensive against the Kharkiv province in northeastern Ukraine.

According to Reuters news agency, the announcement from the Washington administration shows that the US is gradually returning to the pace of regular arms supplies to Kiev, after the US House of Representatives passed a $95 billion security aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan at the end of April.
