According to Nguyen Hong Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province plans to continue replanting 130 hectares of coffee in 2024. This includes replanting 110 hectares with new trees and renovating and restoring 20 hectares for intercropping with fruit trees.
To achieve the above goal, the agricultural sector is continuing to research the issued coffee replanting process to make adjustments suitable to production practices. This includes supplementing safe production processes, VietGAP standards, ecological organic farming, and agroforestry to meet the requirements of domestic and international markets; conducting trials of several seed production models, high-tech farming models (water-saving irrigation, automatic fertilization, etc.), and ecological organic coffee production models as a basis for replication throughout the region.

Regarding seedlings, one Catimor Arabica coffee mother plant garden covering 0.5 hectares with 1,890 plants (equivalent to 800 kg of seeds/year) has been certified to provide seeds for replanting in the area. At the same time, inspection and supervision of coffee seed production and trading establishments in the area have been strengthened.
In coordination with organizations and projects, several topics and projects on testing and developing new, high-quality varieties will be implemented as a basis for supplementing the existing crop structure in the province.
According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as part of the coffee replanting project for the period 2021-2025, the entire province replanted 152.5 hectares of coffee in 2023.
Of this, 20 hectares were replanted using the pruning method, and 132.5 hectares were replanted using the new planting method. This brings the total area of coffee replanting in the 2021-2023 period to over 270 hectares.
The coffee varieties being replanted are mainly Catimor and THA1 Arabica coffee. The project is primarily implemented in the communes of Huong Phung, Huong Tan, Tan Hop, Tan Lien, Huong Viet, Ba Tang, and Khe Sanh town in Huong Hoa district.
On-site inspections of the replanted coffee gardens showed that they were developing well, with many already yielding harvests, reaching over 18 tons of fresh fruit per hectare, more than double the yield of gardens that had not been replanted.
