By 2025, plant 3,500 hectares of new forest

In 2024, due to the impact of climate change, extreme weather occurred abnormally and complicatedly such as drought, flash floods, hail, landslides..., especially storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) which greatly affected agricultural and forestry production and people's lives. However, with the close attention and direction of the Party Committee and authorities, along with the efforts of localities, the whole province planted 5,260/3,485 hectares, reaching 150% of the assigned plan, of which the concentrated forest planting area was 3,873 hectares, the scattered tree planting area was 1,371 hectares.

Implementing the Program "Planting 1 billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025", localities have planted 3,130,228/1,619,000 trees (equivalent to 2,277 hectares), reaching 193% of the plan; taking care of planted forests from 2021 to 2023 is 1,567.87 hectares.

Along with that, the work of forest protection management and forest fire prevention and fighting has been effectively implemented, the number of violations of the Forestry Law decreased by 274 cases, confiscated forest products decreased by 114 ^m3 of wood of all kinds (of which illegal deforestation decreased by 265 cases, damaged area decreased by 69 ha; forest fires decreased by 5 cases, damaged area decreased by 13 ha). The quality of planted forests in recent years has grown and developed well, thereby maintaining a stable forest cover ratio of the province, contributing to the completion of the targets of resolutions and projects on restructuring the province's agricultural sector.

2025 is the final year of implementing the Agricultural Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2025, the Program "Planting 1 billion trees for the period 2021 - 2025" and the Sustainable Forestry Development Program for the period 2021 - 2025, Bac Kan province determined to continue developing, improving productivity and quality of planted forests, with the goal of planting 3,500 hectares of new forests, including 500 hectares of scattered forests, replanting forests after exploitation and project programs 3,000 hectares; caring for planted forests in 2022 - 2024 is 1,404.16 hectares; exploited wood output is 370,000 ^m3 .

To ensure the completion of the set plan targets, the Provincial People's Committee has directed departments, branches and localities to strengthen propaganda and raise awareness of all classes of people about the role, effects and value of forests, the significance of planting trees, afforestation, forest fire prevention and fighting, protecting the ecological environment, contributing to mitigating natural disasters and adapting to climate change.

Pay attention to innovation, reorganize production and replicate effective models; promote the implementation of forms of cooperation, linkage in production, consumption of forest products, and benefit sharing in the forestry production and business chain. Continue to promote the restructuring of forestry production towards the development of ecological, modern, circular economy forestry; develop effective, sustainable, transparent and responsible agriculture; develop sustainable forestry economy towards promoting the multi-purpose value of forest ecosystems, diversifying types of forestry production and business organizations. Focus on the selection and creation of forestry plant varieties, indigenous trees, and intensive forest cultivation suitable to the ecosystem to improve productivity, quality and value of planted forests. Create favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to invest in planting production forests and processing forest products, developing ecotourism; processing and exporting forest products to meet required standards and international standards; implement the policy of payment for forest environmental services; Promote the implementation of carbon absorption and storage services and develop the forest carbon credit market.

Along with that, strengthen forest management and protection, prevent and promptly and effectively handle violations of the law on forest protection and development; strengthen inspection and supervision of forest fire prevention and fighting early, from afar, right from the grassroots level.

The Provincial People's Committee has also issued a Plan to organize the Launching Ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the Spring of At Ty 2025 in conjunction with the Program "Planting one billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025" to continue raising awareness and responsibility of authorities at all levels, communities and people for forest protection and development; mobilizing all classes of people, all organizations, agencies, units, enterprises, schools, armed forces, ... to actively participate in tree planting and forest planting , thereby contributing to restoring forestry production affected by storm No. 3 in 2024 and striving to complete the forest planting plan target in 2025./.
