Up to now, the cast of VTV's Tao Quan program has had 3 people awarded the title of People's Artist, which are artists: Tu Long, Cong Ly, Quoc Khanh.
Not only was he the first person to be awarded the title of People's Artist in the Tao Quan cast, Tu Long was also the one to receive this noble title at the age of only 43.
Tu Long was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the state in 2012. Just 3 years later, in 2015, he continued to be awarded the title of People's Artist.
Tu Long was awarded the title of People's Artist when he was only 43 years old.
At the time Tu Long was awarded the title of People's Artist, many people questioned him because he was too young. Moreover, from the time he received the title of Meritorious Artist to the time he was awarded the title of People's Artist, it was only over 3 years.
According to regulations issued since 2003, artists awarded the title of People's Artist must have worked in the arts for 20 years or more (15 years or more for circus arts), have been awarded the title of Meritorious Artist for 5 years or more, and have at least 2 Gold awards at national, regional or international art festivals and performances... and Central literary and artistic associations since being awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.
According to this regulation, by 2015 (when Tu Long was awarded the title of People's Artist), the male artist was only 43 years old, compared to his career age, he had not yet completed 20 years of continuous artistic activities. At the same time, Tu Long had only been awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State since 2012, up to 2015, it had only been 3 years, not 5 years.
Currently, People's Artist Tu Long holds the rank of Colonel.
In the face of these controversies, People's Artist Le Tien Tho, Chairman of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and member of the State-level Specialized Award Council, shared with the Family & Society newspaper:
“The higher the Council, the broader the view, the more thorough the comparison… Many cases will also be dropped when the Council reviews and finds them unworthy. With the opinions of readers, the public and the media, I believe that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with the Emulation and Reward Board of the Ministry of Home Affairs will synthesize them to submit to the Council for review before submitting them to the President to sign and confer this noble title of People's Artist - Meritorious Artist”.
However, since receiving the title of People's Artist, Tu Long has increasingly affirmed his qualities and talents. Many audiences completely agree with the fact that he was awarded the title of People's Artist at the age of only 43.
Not only holding the role of Deputy Director of the Army Cheo Theater, in 2020, People's Artist Tu Long was also awarded the rank of Colonel.
Tu Long's real name is Vu Tu Long, he was born into a family with a tradition of performing arts in Bac Ninh . Tu Long's father is Meritorious Artist Tu Lam - who was the Head of the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Troupe in the early days of its establishment. Tu Long's mother is also a famous Cheo artist in her hometown.
To achieve glory in his career, Tu Long has gone through many hardships and difficulties.
When he was young, Tu Long was not interested in art but wanted a stable job. He also had plans to work abroad. After graduating from Construction College, Tu Long did many jobs to make a living: carpenter, construction worker, motorbike taxi driver...
This difficult time of wandering made Tu Long change his mind and determined to enter the University of Theatre and Cinema. After graduating, the male artist joined the General Department of Logistics' Cheo troupe in 1999.
Tu Long's small family.
Although he was a "family member", in his first days at the General Department of Logistics' Cheo troupe, Tu Long still had to prove himself with small roles as a "flag bearer".
