
Currently, the province has 396 schools from primary to high school level. The rate of schools meeting national standards is high compared to the national average. 100% of communes, wards and special zones in the province meet the standards of universal primary and secondary education level 3; contributing significantly to improving people's knowledge and training quality human resources for the province's socio -economic development.
Recently, the Department of Education and Training has directed general schools to implement many solutions to improve teaching quality. In the 2024-2025 school year, the Department organized 8 training sessions and in-person conferences, with the participation of over 2,900 managers and teachers of general schools. The content was about digital transformation, AI application, innovation in testing, assessment and teaching methods; 2 online meetings with 100% of managers and teachers participating (on AI application, textbooks for subjects in grades 2, 3, 5).
The introduction of English as a second language in schools has been actively implemented, aiming to create an English ecosystem in schools. Some schools have actively used English/bilingualism for school names, names of functional rooms, class names; decorated schools/classrooms with English slogans; organized extracurricular activities, clubs using English.... On the other hand, research has been done to organize teaching of subjects/ educational activities or a part of subjects/educational activities in English (priority given to Math, Natural Sciences, Information Technology...).
According to Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Van, Head of the General Education Department, Department of Education and Training, for primary school, currently, learning English is compulsory from grade 3, but in the future it will be a compulsory subject from grade 1. Therefore, localities need to develop plans and proactively recruit English teachers to ensure there are enough teachers according to regulations.
Regarding the teaching and learning of Chinese, according to the Department of Education and Training, the first foreign language, Chinese, was taught and learned in 14 schools in the 2024-2025 school year. In the 2025-2026 school year, it was 24 schools (7 high schools; 8 middle schools; 9 primary schools). The second foreign language, Chinese, was optional in 6 schools. In order to implement the requirements for teaching and learning foreign languages of neighboring countries, Hai Son, Dong Van, Quang Duc, and Duong Hoa communes have been researching and preparing conditions to organize the teaching and learning of Chinese for schools in the area.
To improve the quality and effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program, general schools have also proactively developed school education plans; plans to implement school year tasks; assessment and testing plans, 2-session/day teaching plans, and digital report card plans. The promotion of STEM/STEAM education is also emphasized.
Many schools have improved their professional quality in scientific research, strived to have topics, initiatives and experiences in the education sector, improved the professional quality of the Science and Technology Research Competition at all levels for middle and high school students, and encouraged the organization of STEM festivals. At the same time, established clubs and technology startup incubators to support teachers and students in researching and developing educational technology products.

With the efforts, the quality of general education in the whole province has had many remarkable changes. The rate of primary school students studying 2 sessions/day increased from 78% (school year 2023 - 2024) to 100% (school year 2024 - 2025). PCGD THCS has reached level 3 (the highest level). The national high school excellent student selection exam in 2025 achieved the highest result ever with 88 prizes (an increase of 3 prizes compared to the previous year).
In the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training has directed general schools to continue to strengthen quality management, innovate teaching methods, focus on improving the quality of teachers and educational managers, meeting the requirements of implementing the 2018 general education program; improve the quality and effectiveness of educational activities when implementing the 2-level local government model; organize the implementation of the Project "Making English the second language in schools for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2045". At the same time, promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence in teaching, develop digital human resources in the education sector; effectively implement 2-session teaching/day for all levels according to the roadmap; ensure fairness in access to education for all subjects...
