The working period for each rotation is 1 month.
Mr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City health sector always aims to shorten the distance of health service access between the city center and remote areas such as Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Con Dao special economic zone.
"These doctors are all highly qualified, graduated from residency, have masters and doctorates, ensuring the best medical quality. Each doctor is assigned the task of transferring techniques, along with a support mechanism from the host hospital. Although they belong to different specialties, the doctors will work in a team spirit. The rotating group of doctors will keep in contact with the host hospital and report online weekly to the leaders of the Department of Health and functional departments to promptly grasp and supplement necessary professional issues in Con Dao," said Mr. Thuong.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health hopes that these efforts will bring "new vitality" to the people of Con Dao special zone, especially pregnant women who no longer have to go to the mainland to give birth.
In addition to rotating good doctors, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has implemented many initiatives such as installing a rotation program information board at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center; establishing a blood bank coordinated by Hung Vuong Hospital; installing a kidney dialysis machine at the Medical Center, helping dialysis patients feel secure when traveling .
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, as soon as the program of rotating doctors working in Con Dao was launched, the unit received enough registrations for volunteer doctors until 2026. The Department of Health will continue to evaluate to ensure there are always specialized doctors in Con Dao until the locality builds a general hospital with a permanent team. In the next phases, the program will be expanded with the participation of other end-level hospitals.
