On September 11th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that at 8:10 PM on September 10th, a newborn baby weighing 2,950g was safely delivered in the delivery room of the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.
The 39-week-old first-time mother was assisted in childbirth by Dr. Huynh Giang Chau (Hung Vuong Hospital), and the baby was also cared for by Pediatrician Tran Thi Mai Lien (Children's Hospital 1).
According to the pregnant woman's family, about three weeks ago, they had planned to fly to the mainland to give birth at a hospital, but upon hearing that specialist doctors were rotating shifts at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, the family decided to give birth at home instead.
Dr. Huynh Giang Chau personally examined the pregnant woman and found that she had moderate anemia, placing her in a high-risk group. However, thanks to the center's blood bank, he confidently decided to have her give birth at the center.
The expectant mother received direct assistance from the medical team, giving her a birth experience no different from giving birth at Hung Vuong Hospital.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the department respectfully acknowledges and highly appreciates the efforts and very serious work ethic of the specialist doctors who are rotating their duties at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.
Daily work logs over the past few days show that the number of people visiting the center for examination and treatment has increased two to three times compared to before. In particular, there have been complex emergency surgeries that saved patients' lives, including laparoscopic appendectomy. And this is the first safe delivery in Con Dao , with both mother and child healthy.
