Viet Duc Friendship Hospital proposed starting operations at 30% capacity in the initial phase, equivalent to 300 beds. Once the system is operating stably, the hospital will expand its scale based on actual needs.

Branch 2 of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.
According to Mr. Hung, the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital is designed according to European standards with more modern equipment than the first facility, creating conditions for the implementation of high-quality, synchronized techniques.
Facility 2 will have space to stratify expertise, establish technical boundaries between the two facilities, expand cutting-edge fields, and "return" space to Facility 1 to enhance specialized quality. All equipment is configured synchronously, creating an optimal working environment and conditions for implementing complex techniques.
The completion of the second facility was carried out in close coordination between Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the Project Management Board, ensuring accurate and efficient procurement and technical aspects. The hospital's second facility, once operational, will fundamentally address the long-standing problem of hospital overcrowding.
Regarding the medical staff when the hospital becomes operational, according to Mr. Hung, the hospital has begun recruiting and training personnel many years ago. Many doctors recruited 6-7 years ago have undergone practical training at the hospital and are now capable of undertaking duties at the new facility.
In addition, the hospital is continuously recruiting more anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians, while also accepting applications from medical schools and vocational schools. "Recently, three more resident doctors who just graduated have applied to work at the second facility," Mr. Hung said.
Mr. Hung added that the hospital has invested in all aspects of personnel training, ensuring that the professional quality between the two facilities will be comparable, along with the rotation of personnel from facility 1 to facility 2. Some particularly complex surgeries will still be performed in Hanoi , but a clear internal referral system will be established to ensure quality and patient safety.

In addition, Mr. Hung said that attention will be paid to training and guiding medical staff at facility 2 on medical ethics, especially their attitude and spirit of service.
Alongside improving the skills of its workforce, the hospital continues to add modern equipment, including plans to invest in surgical robots to increase the accuracy, quality of surgeries, and treatment outcomes.
Along with the completion of its second facility, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital continues to strengthen professional expertise at its first facility by organizing numerous training programs for all medical staff, such as the use of defibrillators, management of anaphylaxis, cardiovascular emergency care, and other continuing education programs.
"We provide comprehensive training so that anyone can use it, especially the essential equipment in emergency situations," Mr. Hung said, emphasizing: "What the world has achieved, technically, we can also do. And next year will be a time of acceleration, when both facilities operate and upgrade together to aim for genuine professional quality – the only factor that maintains the trust of patients."
