Raising awareness of the role of policy communication

On August 23, the Department of Information and Communications of Nam Dinh organized a training conference on TTCS work in 2024 for officials and leaders of functional departments and branches; representatives of the People's Committee, Department of Culture and Information, Centers for Culture, Information and Communications of districts and cities. The conference was connected online to 226 communes, wards and towns across the province.

TTCS is an important task and function of State administrative agencies at all levels, an important part in the work of institutional improvement. This task has received special attention and direction from the Government and the province.

However, in reality, there are still some shortcomings and limitations in the TTCS activities such as: some agencies and units have not yet properly recognized the role and importance of TTCS; TTCS has not been identified as a task and function of agencies, units and localities; TTCS is still lacking in methodology, still mainly one-way or formal.

Some units and localities have not proactively provided information to the press and media; even avoided or shirked responsibility for providing information when requested; have not closely linked information dissemination work with refuting and handling false information, bad and toxic information...

At the training session, delegates were informed of regulations related to information security in the Press Law; Decree No. 09/2017/ND-CP of the Government on speaking and providing information to the press by State administrative agencies; skills in contacting and handling press information; and basic contents of the Law on Access to Information.

Dr. Vu Hoai Phuong - lecturer of the Faculty of Propaganda - Academy of Journalism and Propaganda also disseminated and guided a number of topics on policy communication work; policy communication cycle and forms of information and communication; skills in choosing appropriate and effective communication methods; sharing experiences in policy communication, information processing, policy communication, etc.

The conference aims to provide information, knowledge and professional skills on information and communication, thereby creating a change in awareness and action of those working in information and propaganda, expanding and further improving the effectiveness of information activities in the province to synchronously carry out information and communication measures, contributing to continuing to promote socio -economic development associated with promoting the image of the province.
