According to information from Chinese rumor expert Instant Digital , iPhone 17 Pro will be equipped with vapor chamber cooling technology to improve thermal performance on the device.
Vapor chamber cooling has been used in many Android flagships. Vapor chambers work by distributing heat evenly over a larger area, helping to prevent performance degradation due to overheating and maintain stable performance, which is especially useful for thin-design devices.
This isn’t the first time rumors have surfaced about Apple using vapor chamber cooling for the iPhone 17 series. Previously, Chinese tech news site MyDrivers revealed that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max would all feature this technology.
However, Instant Digital believes that this technology will only be available on devices equipped with the A19 Pro chip including the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
"Combined with the A19 Pro's new thermal management capabilities, these devices can maintain high performance under heavy workloads with virtually no performance degradation," the leaker said.
In another post on Weibo, the Chinese source also denied rumors that there would be changes to the front design of the iPhone 17. Instead, Instant Digital revealed that the upgrades to Apple's new generation of phones will focus on the internal hardware and the back.
In 2024, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the iPhone 17 Pro Max would feature a proprietary cooling system that combines vapor chamber technology and graphene panels.
However, this expert believes that other iPhone models launched in 2025 will still only use graphene panels without vapor chambers.
In addition to cooling technology, based on rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM, higher than the 8 GB on the iPhone 16 Pro.
