"Thunderstorms often occur in the afternoon and evening, concentrated more in the mountainous and midland areas of the North," said Mr. Lam.
At the same time, Mr. Lam also said that from the night of August 18 to August 19, the Northern region and the capital Hanoi are likely to have moderate rain, heavy rain and widespread thunderstorms, with some places having very heavy rain. From about August 20, the rain will decrease slowly. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be on guard against tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
However, before the above rain, on August 17-18, Hanoi's weather was quite hot and sunny with the highest temperature reaching 36 degrees, at night it was also around 30 degrees, the weather was quite stuffy; in the evening there was a possibility of showers and thunderstorms in some places.
