The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South Central coastal region continues to experience hot weather, with some areas experiencing intense heat. Maximum temperatures are generally 34-37 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius. Minimum humidity is generally 45-50%.
In Hanoi, the highest temperature on May 22nd will be around 34-36 degrees Celsius. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon and evening.
The mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam are likely to continue experiencing localized showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. During thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
According to meteorological agencies, the heatwave in Northern and Central Vietnam is likely to last for several more days. The period from May 24th to 27th is predicted to be the peak of this heatwave, with temperatures in many areas commonly reaching 36-39 degrees Celsius.
Today, the southern region will maintain sunny weather during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Some areas may experience localized heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm.
Based on international forecasting models such as GFS (USA), ECMWF (Europe), and JMA (Japan), the trend of hot weather in Northern and Central Vietnam in the last days of May is basically consistent with the assessment of the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting of Vietnam. All models indicate that temperatures in many areas of Northern Vietnam will remain high in the coming days.
Specifically, the northern and central regions of Vietnam are likely to experience widespread heatwaves from May 24th to 27th, with maximum temperatures commonly reaching 36-38 degrees Celsius, and even higher in some areas.
International models also indicate that the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam may still experience localized thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Southern Vietnam will maintain a sunny day pattern with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.
