BHG - For a long time, Quan Ba has owned natural Shan Tuyet tea trees in the forest for decades or more. With the desire to contribute to the development of local tea trees and increase the value of tea products, young people in the district have participated in tea production and processing activities, creating unique tea products, contributing to increasing the value of local tea trees.
Recognizing the special value of Shan Tuyet tea trees growing in the rocky mountains in a completely natural way, without being fertilized by people, over the years, the tea trees have increasingly condensed many precious essences. Mr. Ngu Xuan Huy, Director of Kim Thang Cooperative (HTX) in Tam Son town, is making efforts to promote Quan Ba tea trees to many places at home and abroad. Mr. Huy said: “Thanks to the support of the local government, the Cooperative quickly completed the procedures to officially start operating since 2018. The Cooperative has invested more than 4 billion VND in building factories and production machinery. We imported production machinery from Taiwan, including: Tea roasting machines, rolling machines, hot drying machines, cake pressing machines, steaming machines... Along with the support of Taiwanese tea production experts to produce high-class teas of great value in Taiwan such as: White tea, Black tea, Pu'er tea...". It is known that the process of processing and picking tea leaves is quite elaborate, requiring fermentation and drying techniques at each stage to create different types of tea in terms of properties and flavors. Currently, the cooperative has 2 products that have achieved 3 OCOP stars: Ban Shan Hong Ngoc and Bach Mau Don.

Mr. Quach Ngan Vi, who is a technical supporter for tea production for the cooperative, shared: “The tea leaves in Quan Ba can be said to be the best among the places I have been to in Vietnam. I brought the tea leaves to be tested at the National Taiwan University, tested with more than 470 types of banned substances, all at 0%. We have obtained the SGS Certificate - qualified to export to demanding countries”. According to Mr. Vi, the tea leaves here meet food safety and hygiene standards because the environment is clean, not affected by the method of commodity production, people only grow tea in the traditional way, the trees grow naturally.
Despite its valuable values, Quan Ba tea trees are not yet widely known in the market, partly because consumers are not familiar with this brand and do not know the value and quality of tea products. The cooperative's tea sales revenue is currently only about 200 million VND/year. Meanwhile, tea export activities are facing difficulties due to the impact of Covid-19. Therefore, promoting product promotion is very important, while local youth are weak in this area, so they cannot help consumers understand the value and precious qualities of tea trees here.
In order to promote the value of local products, the Youth Union and Party committees and authorities at all levels are making efforts to help cooperatives in the area promote their products to consumers. Through many measures such as displaying at trade fairs, supporting sales training on e-commerce platforms. Through this, we hope to be a lever to help cooperatives connect with domestic and foreign markets.
