"Over the years, Russia has given priority to issues related to the harmonious development of the Arctic and the preservation of its unique natural resources," President Vladimir Putin said at the forum " The Arctic. The Ice Has Melted."
According to the Russian President, the country is creating 110 hectares of land in the Arctic, with more than 5,000 tons of waste collected and removed. Mr. Putin added that this important large-scale effort will continue.

The second all-Russian forum and festival, titled "The Arctic. The ice has melted" , is being held in the northwestern Russian city of Murmansk. It is part of Russia's activities during its presidency of the Arctic Council.
Russia is also planning to develop the Northern Sea Route. Russia will invest 2,000 billion rubles, equivalent to about 25 billion USD, to realize the plan to develop the Northern Sea Route in the next 13 years.
According to Russian Prime Minister Mishustin, a number of projects to develop the Northern Sea Route have been implemented. In recent years, Russia has invested heavily in military ships and icebreakers capable of operating in the Arctic.
Russia currently has more than 50 icebreakers operating in the region. At the same time, Russia is strengthening its infrastructure in the Arctic, building and repairing 16 deep-water ports and 14 airports, establishing an Arctic military command, and establishing regional air defense and search and rescue infrastructure.
President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the inauguration of a brand new nuclear-powered icebreaker in St. Petersburg last November, said that the establishment of the Northern Sea Route would allow Russia to unleash its export potential and to establish efficient logistics routes, including to Southeast Asia.
The Northern Sea Route runs along Russian waters in the Arctic and Pacific Oceans, with a length of about 5,600 km. It is the shortest shipping route from Asia to Europe and is Russia's key economic project in the Arctic and Far East.
