Alexei Lobaryov, a member of Russia's Public Supervision Committee, which inspects prisons, told Moskovsky Komsomolets that his team visited rapper Vacio (real name Nikolai Vasilyev) at a detention center in Moscow on the morning of January 8.
Vasilyev was previously sentenced to 15 days in prison by a Moscow court for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and homosexual propaganda, after the rapper attended a celebrity-filled party in revealing clothing on December 21, 2023.
"After serving 15 days, Vasilyev was taken to the military registration office near the Belorusskaya metro station. There he received a summons with an appointment for January 9, after which he was taken to the police," Lobaryov told Komsomolets .
Vasilyev was scheduled to be released on January 9 but was arrested again for disorderly conduct and was detained for another 10 days.
"The artist will be in a special detention center on the day he appears in response to the summons," Lobaryov said.
However, Mr Lobaryov said Vasilyev "did not face the risk of serving in the army because he allegedly failed a medical examination in his native Yekaterinburg".
The controversial party took place at the Mutabor nightclub in Moscow on December 21, 2023, and was organized by a blogger named Anastasia Ivleeva. After photos of the party were posted on social media, partygoers faced a backlash from authorities, lawmakers, bloggers, state media, and Orthodox Church groups.
The incident comes at a time when traditional values are being promoted in Russia. The country's Supreme Court has banned the international LGBT movement for being "extremist", while President Vladimir Putin has urged mothers to have eight children.
