Russia ranked 102nd in the world for global price increases with an estimated annual inflation rate of 3.5% in March, while most of Europe was above that threshold.
Sputnik cited statistical data showing that lower inflation rates than Russia in Europe were recorded only in Spain (3.3%), Liechtenstein (2.9%) and Switzerland (2.9%).

Meanwhile, the highest inflation rates in the world as of March were recorded in Lebanon (264%), Argentina (104.3%), Zimbabwe (87.6%), Suriname (59.4%) and Türkiye (50.5%).
Additionally, rising inflation was observed in Sri Lanka (49.2%), Ghana (45%), Sierra Leone (41.5%) and Laos (41%). Moreover, Pakistan entered the top 10 countries in terms of annual inflation for the first time after several consecutive years of 35.4% inflation.
High inflation rates as of March were also recorded in European countries such as Hungary (25.2%), Moldova (22%) and Ukraine (21.3%), while the lowest inflation rate (0.7%) recorded globally was in China.
Spuntik's analysis was based on data from the statistical services of 193 United Nations member states. The final sample included 142 countries that had published inflation data for March through early May.
In April, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected global inflation would fall from 8.7% in 2022 to 7% in 2023, with the world not reaching its inflation target until 2025. The deflation in the forecast reflects falling fuel and non-fuel commodity prices, as well as the cooling effect of monetary tightening on economic activity.
