In 2024, the province approved support for the construction and repair of 1,498 new houses with a total value of about 86 billion VND. The support funds are mobilized from socialized sources. Of which, 233 houses are for families of people with revolutionary contributions, 968 houses for poor and near-poor households, 195 houses for poor households in ethnic minority areas and extremely disadvantaged areas; 102 houses for households under the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021-2025. By December 31, 2024, Bac Giang province had completed the handover of 100% of the approved houses.
In 2025, the budget to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province will be drawn from the 5% savings in regular expenditures in 2024. Bac Giang province has approved 798 houses, including 221 houses for people with revolutionary contributions, 473 houses for poor and near-poor households; 62 houses for ethnic minority households and extremely disadvantaged areas; 42 houses for households under the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021-2025. By June 2025, the whole province had completed the handover of 798/798 houses, with a total cost of more than 94 billion VND, reaching the target earlier than the Government 's request.
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has received close attention and direction from the provincial Party Committees, authorities, and grassroots organizations, the sharing and support of a large number of cadres, Party members, union members, and association members, and the consensus of all classes of people inside and outside the province.
The mobilization of resources to implement the program is organized flexibly, suitable for all subjects in the spirit of "whoever has something contributes, whoever has work contributes work, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has a little contributes a little" supporting from funds, labor days for transportation, dismantling, construction materials, and household items.
Comrade Nguyen Viet Oanh gave a speech at the conference. |
During the implementation process, many places have proactively, creatively, and flexibly reviewed and classified subjects to assign responsibilities to each sector and organization, connecting sponsors with households, especially for households that are unable to respond and have been supported in the form of "turnkey". Some localities with more favorable conditions for social mobilization have proactively supported other localities or eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses in the area without receiving support from the program.
However, during the implementation process, some places reviewed and counted overlapping subjects, had to adjust the number of houses that needed to be repaired or rebuilt, leading to slow progress in starting and completing the project. The slow resolution of difficulties and obstacles related to land led to many subjects who wanted to demolish temporary and dilapidated houses but were not eligible for support.
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Viet Oanh acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in the period of 2024-2025. He highly appreciated the sense of responsibility, efforts and endeavors of all levels and sectors, especially the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Youth Union, the Women's Union, the Red Cross, the police and military forces in the province, the companionship and valuable contributions of businesses, sponsors, organizations, individuals, philanthropists and people from all walks of life.
He emphasized that all levels and sectors in the province need to clearly identify that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses and providing housing support for the people is a regular and long-term task, associated with the goal of improving the quality of life and ensuring sustainable social security. He requested that Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in the province focus on directing the removal of difficulties and obstacles in building houses for the people, synchronously implementing poverty reduction and social security policies associated with the goal of sustainable development and narrowing regional gaps.
Comrade Lam Thi Huong Thanh awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee Chairman to individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. |
Continue to promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to play a core role in mobilizing organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province to join hands in supporting social security activities, especially building solidarity houses for poor, single-parent, and disadvantaged households. For Party committees, authorities, and grassroots departments, branches, and organizations, it is necessary to closely follow the grassroots, grasp the situation, promptly detect, support, and help households with housing difficulties. At the same time, develop specific plans, actively implement poverty reduction and social security programs, contributing to helping poor households escape poverty sustainably.
He hoped that organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province would continue to promote the spirit of humanity, sharing, and accompanying the locality in the journey of supporting the poor and people in difficult circumstances to stabilize their housing, improve their lives, and contribute to spreading humanistic values in society. Families benefiting from the program would continue to promote the spirit of self-reliance, actively work, participate in patriotic emulation movements, and contribute to building an increasingly civilized and prosperous homeland.
On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province were awarded.
