Don't let the next item wait for the previous item.
Present at the construction site of the new Xuong Giang bridge, the approach road at both ends of the bridge across the Thuong River on the Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway (abbreviated as Xuong Giang bridge) at 9:15 p.m. on June 24, the construction site was still lit by the lights of steel welding and the lights of concrete trucks pouring the bridge piers. On the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, many workers, bulldozers, and excavators were speeding up to remove the road surface, treat weak soil, and compact the road. Due to the bridge construction in hot and sunny weather during the day, heavy rain on some days, and at high altitudes at night, contractors always pay attention to implementing labor protection and safety solutions for workers.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, Project Manager, said that since mid-May this year, contractors have identified that some construction items of the Xuong Giang Bridge under the riverbed such as pillars T2, T3... may be behind schedule due to the late issuance of construction permits within the dike area. Therefore, to complete the above items before the rainy season, ensuring that the construction of the following items does not have to wait for the previous items, the units have focused on overtime to compensate for the progress. Not only working the day shift, workers also work the night shift. The contractor is currently arranging 6 construction teams with more than 100 workers, of which 4 are for bridge construction, the rest are for road construction.
Xuong Giang Bridge is invested by the Railway Project Management Board ( Ministry of Construction ), part of the project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 in several provinces. The total investment cost is more than 170 billion VND from the state budget. The project has a total length of nearly 1 km, of which the bridge is more than 301 m long, the rest is the approach road; the starting point is at km 117+440 in Tran Phu ward, the end point is about km 118+400 in Dong Son ward (Bac Giang city).
The bridge is a new unit, 16.5 m wide, including 3 lanes for motor vehicles; the road section at both ends of the bridge has a 33 m wide base including 4 lanes for motor vehicles. Up to this point, the project has completed the bored piles and piers T1, T2, T3, T4, bridge abutments M1, M2; all 66 bored piles. The contractors have completed 30% of the work volume, currently continuing to construct the bridge body and abutments, striving to open the technical traffic in December this year as planned.

Similarly, at the construction site to open a new road connecting Provincial Road 292 through An Ha Industrial Park (Lang Giang) to the Northeast Ring Road ( Bac Giang City), these days there are more than 50 workers and engineers constructing road and canal overpass items on the route. These include filling the roadbed with K95 and K98 soil, casting bridge girders, pouring bridge abutments, drainage culverts, etc. To speed up the progress, the contractor mobilized workers and machinery to work on days off and at night.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long, a worker at the construction site, said that in recent days, despite heavy rain, the workers still worked normally. When the road could not be constructed due to rain, they focused on casting bridge girders. It is known that this project has a total length of about 15.3 km, passing through Kep town and the communes of An Ha, Huong Lac, Tan Thanh, My Thai, Xuan Huong (Lang Giang); the road surface is 11 m wide. The total investment of the route is nearly 410 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Close supervision of construction
Along with the two above-mentioned traffic projects, many other projects are currently being accelerated with the determination to finish on time. Currently, contractors are constructing a number of key traffic projects such as: Construction of the extended provincial road 293, from Kham Lang intersection to Quynh market, Nghia Phuong commune (Luc Nam); the connecting road from road 295 to national highway 37 (Lang Giang); construction of provincial road 295 from Ben Tuan bridge to Cao Thuong town and from Cao Thuong town to Bi Noi bridge (Tan Yen)... The total cost of implementation is thousands of billions of VND from the state budget.

The projects that have been started and put into use are of great significance to the people of the province. For example, the completion of the Xuong Giang bridge will contribute to reducing traffic congestion, promoting socio-economic development in Bac Giang and the provinces and cities in the Northeast region. Or the completion of the road connecting Provincial Road 292 through An Ha Industrial Park will increase connectivity between the communes of Lang Giang district and Bac Giang city, promoting investment attraction in the area.
In order to put key projects into use on schedule, the Provincial People's Committee has directed localities to focus on accelerating site clearance and handing over to contractors for construction. Every month, the province reviews the progress and resolves difficulties and obstacles for each project. Localities where the project passes have established site clearance steering committees.
According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, clearly identifying the importance of key projects, for each project using provincial budget capital, the Board assigns a leader in charge of directing and supervising the construction. At the same time, technical staff are arranged to directly supervise each item, promptly urging contractors to speed up the progress. At the same time, the Board resolutely directs contractors to increase labor, machinery and equipment, and arrange work in 3 shifts/day, including holidays. Thanks to that, up to this point, the projects have basically ensured progress according to the set plan.
For the Xuong Giang Bridge project, the leaders of the Railway Project Management Board regularly inspect the actual construction sites to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles with the contractors. The contractors have arranged camps for workers to stay and paid additional wages to encourage workers to work night shifts and overtime. With that determination, key traffic projects will soon be completed, creating momentum to promote the local economy.
