Russia simultaneously airstrikes many areas of Ukraine

On the night of July 31, the Russian military launched a wave of heavy attacks on Ukrainian industrial and military facilities. Ukraine claimed that the Russian military carried out a combined attack with drones and missiles launched by strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces. According to Ukrainian media, the Ukrainian military claimed that all Russian drones were allegedly destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces. The media said that this was one of the largest Russian attacks on Ukraine's rear areas since the beginning of 2024.

According to Ukrainian media reports, up to 89 Russian drones were launched. Some reports said that nearly 100 Russian drones targeted the Kyiv region alone. Most of the attacks were carried out from the eastern part of the Kursk border region (Russia) and from the southern part of Crimea.

Russian attacks were reported in the Kyiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Zhitomir and Kirovograd regions.

Most of the Russian airstrikes on the night of July 31 targeted the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital and other cities in the Kyiv region.

Several attacks were reported in the Goloseevsky district of Kyiv. The targets were several factories used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to produce drones.

The capital is not the only city under attack in the Kyiv region. Russian drone attacks have also been reported in the Brovary region, with the target possibly being a Ukrainian Armed Forces military base located there.

Two Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles also struck the city of Bila Tserkva, located on the southwestern outskirts of the capital. According to Ukrainian reports, the city was hit by missiles launched from Russia’s Voronezh region. Therefore, the reported range of the attacks was more than 600km.

The officially announced range of the Iskander-M ballistic missile is no more than 500km. However, some recent reports say that the Russian military has a new missile for the Iskander-M complexes, which can strike targets at a distance of 1000km.

Russia airstrikes, destroys strategic airport in Poltava region

One of the military targets attacked in Poltava was the Mirgorod military airport. Russia regularly carries out airstrikes against this strategic airport because it is of extreme importance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to preliminary reports, the Russian military carried out at least five airstrikes on the airport overnight. Local residents reported a sustained secondary explosion in the area, possibly destroying a military warehouse. A large explosion was also recorded at the Poltavtoplivo fuel depot near Mirgorod.

The attacks on the Mirgorod airfield were aimed at destroying Ukrainian Air Force aircraft and the infrastructure necessary for air operations. The airfield was supposed to become one of the bases that could receive NATO F-16 fighter jets.

A large secondary explosion was also reported in the city of Kremenchug in the Poltava region, targeting a military warehouse.

Russia uses new type of drone to attack Ukrainian military positions

In the Dnepropetrovsk region, several explosions were also recorded in the city of Pavlograd, an important logistics center for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Several other airstrikes were also recorded in the city of Krivy Rih.

Last night, the Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses in the eastern Kharkiv region. Russian bombs, drones and missiles destroyed military facilities in several areas, including near Chuguev, Kupyansk and Volchansk. One of them was the deployment point of the Kraken battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian airstrikes also hit several Ukrainian military bases in the city of Svetlovodsk in the Kirovograd region and the Zhitomir region. In Mykolaiv, explosions were heard in the Voznesensk region, home to another Ukrainian military airport.

Ukrainian military sources reported that the Russian military used Gerbera and Geran drones and various types of missiles in the attack last night. Gerbera is a new type of Russian drone that was introduced recently. Gerbera drones are said to be cheaper than other drones of the same type. They can fulfill their mission well, which is to distract Ukrainian air defense systems throughout the country.
