"Today, the border defense forces of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) successfully prevented an attempt to break into Russian territory in the area of Sluchovsk village, Pogarsky district of Bryansk region. A group of 20 Ukrainian soldiers participated in this mission," Bryansk region Governor Alexander Bogomaz announced on April 6.
According to Mr. Bogomaz, a gunfight broke out in the Russia-Ukraine border area in Bryansk. However, detailed information about casualties and damage on both sides has not been released yet.
Ukrainian authorities have yet to comment on the allegations.
Recently, fighting has been frequent in the Bryansk border area of Russia. Earlier, in early March, the Kraken special forces unit of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Service announced that it had destroyed a Russian border observation tower in this area.
"Using a suicide unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), intelligence agents of the Kraken unit destroyed a border observation tower in Russia's Bryansk region," the Kraken unit said in a statement.
A video has emerged showing the Russian tower exploding and burning fiercely after being attacked by at least two Ukrainian UAVs.

Also on April 6, Mr. Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Russian private military company Wagner, announced updated information on the war situation in the "fire pit" of Bakhmut in Eastern Ukraine.
According to Mr. Prigozhin, Ukrainian defense forces are unlikely to abandon the Bakhmut fortress, despite previous comments that Kiev would order a retreat to preserve its forces.
"There is a relatively clear truth here, which is that the opponent is not going anywhere," Mr. Prigozhin wrote on his personal Telegram page.
This announcement by the head of the Wagner organization was made after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement on the Bakhmut situation on April 5.

In a speech during his visit to Poland, the head of the Ukrainian government admitted that the situation in the strategic city of Bakhmut is extremely difficult. Mr. Zelensky revealed that Ukrainian soldiers are still holding out in the city. However, their sporadic attempts to break the siege are often blocked by the Russian army.
President Zelensky also said that his government will take necessary measures to protect the defense forces in Bakhmut from the risk of a complete encirclement.
