Russia wiped out a Ukrainian paratrooper brigade, Kiev vowed to retaliate
The 95th Airborne Brigade was completely destroyed on the Pokrovsk front; what would be the consequences if Ukraine used American or domestically produced missiles to attack Moscow?

In late September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a keynote speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, announcing not only a potential attack on the Russian capital, but also the recovery of all lost territories, including the Crimean peninsula, and the export of weapons to European partners and other countries. For those unfamiliar with the Russia-Ukraine war, they might think that Kiev is the “big winner” in this long-running conflict. However, on the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are suffering heavy losses from Russian ground airstrikes, including the complete destruction of the 95th Air Assault Brigade. So what is going on?
Recently, to counter the Russian offensive in Donbass, Kiev deployed the elite 95th Air Assault Brigade of the AFU, from the Sumy Oblast front to the Pokrovsk front in the Donbass region, trying to stop the offensive of 160,000 Russian troops. During the fighting, the RFAF went beyond the limits of traditional urban combat and street fighting, as they used UAVs to continuously scout and attack Ukrainian fire points. At the same time, the RFAF used Su-34 fighter-bombers and long-range artillery to launch fierce attacks on Ukrainian positions, creating opportunities for ground forces to seize Ukrainian positions. As a result, the 95th Air Assault Brigade, a key force of the AFU, was almost destroyed in the fighting. Obviously, while the Russian offensive in the Donbass region is going well, the AFU has lost the ability to counterattack. In this context, Kiev can only endure the harsh reality of losing more territory to Russian forces. Therefore, after President Zelensky praised the AFU's "victory" in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated: "The West should not harbor the intention that the Ukrainian army can restore the border before February 2022."
It is clear that even with Western support, Ukraine will have difficulty regaining the occupied territories on the battlefield or in negotiations. In this context, there are reports that Mr. Trump intends to provide the Ukrainian military with new long-range weapons. US President Donald Trump recently seems to have completely reversed his view of Russian President Vladimir Putin, from previously calling him a "friend" to now calling him an "opponent". President Zelensky has asked the US to provide more long-range missiles, including Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of more than 2,000 km, and approved the AFU to use these weapons to attack targets deep inside Russian territory. In response, President Trump stated that he "did not object to the idea." On October 6, Mr. Trump said that he had made a decision on providing long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but refused to disclose specifically what that decision was. However, from the declaration to the reality is a long time, maybe President Trump's announcement about providing Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine at this time, is just a "motivational" statement, helping Kiev overcome the crisis on the battlefield. Because Washington knows very well how Moscow will react if the US provides Tomahawk to Ukraine.
Therefore, the most practical thing for Kiev to do to deal with long-range attack weapons at this time is to develop its own long-range cruise missiles. Therefore, there is information that Ukraine will retaliate for the previous failure by developing and expanding the production of domestic long-range weapons, capable of attacking Moscow! Ukraine is reportedly developing and expanding production of its own long-range Flamingo cruise missiles. Officials in Kiev claim that these weapons will reduce Ukraine's dependence on American and European weapons. Although the Flamingo missiles are not yet ready for mass production, President Zelensky has envisioned them. He has declared that Ukraine's missiles will not target civilians; the Kremlin is included in the target. President Zelensky continued his threat: "If Putin still refuses to cease fire, he will have to know where the bomb shelters are."
In response, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev quickly accused the US, declaring: "Mr. Zelensky and the Americans must know that Russia possesses weapons that even a shelter cannot withstand." Mr. Medvedev made it clear that if Zelensky attacked the Kremlin with American weapons, Russia would respond with nuclear weapons. So, is it any surprise that President Trump, on the one hand, announced the provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, but remained “vague” about it? His announcement of providing Tomahawk missiles to Kiev could be a “marketing” effort, aimed at securing more arms orders for US arms manufacturers, rather than a deliberate war with Russia.
