This year, for the National Day holiday on September 2nd, civil servants and public employees will have 4 days off, from Friday, September 1st to Monday, September 4th.

The September 2nd holiday is a time when hostile forces, reactionary elements, and hackers will take advantage to increase cyberattacks.

To enhance cybersecurity during the holiday period, the Ministry of Information and Communications requests that ministries, sectors, and localities; central press agencies; corporations, general companies, internet and telecommunications service providers; and financial institutions and commercial banks focus on implementing several measures to ensure cybersecurity.

Specifically, agencies, organizations, and businesses need to strengthen the implementation of information security measures for critical information systems, information systems containing personal information and data, and platforms serving the national digital transformation.

Assign on-site forces to conduct 24/7 monitoring and ensure network security; require specialized units and network security service providers (if any) to strengthen and prioritize resources and personnel for the task of monitoring and protecting information systems.

In addition, units also need to conduct a comprehensive review of operating information systems, perform checks, assessments, and reviews of vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and configurations, enhance security for information systems under their management, and thoroughly address vulnerabilities and weaknesses that have been warned about by the Information Security Department.

In particular, proactively develop emergency response plans, support and incident remediation strategies in the event of cyberattacks; always be ready to update information, warnings and recommendations on cybersecurity shared by the Cybersecurity Department.

Ensure continuous and timely information sharing with the Cybersecurity Department, paying particular attention to connecting to the national cybersecurity monitoring system operated by the National Cybersecurity Monitoring Center (NCSC), especially for agencies whose existing data connections are interrupted or unstable...

For telecommunications and internet service providers, and organizations and businesses providing digital transformation platforms, the Ministry of Information and Communications requires them to strengthen their workforce for monitoring, support, and troubleshooting to ensure the safety and smooth operation of telecommunications and internet infrastructure.

Implement the highest level of technical measures to detect, filter, and prevent cyberattacks, the dissemination of harmful and malicious information, and information that violates the law on information systems and network infrastructure under management; strictly and promptly implement handling measures as required.

Holidays are a time when scams related to travel , promotions, and prize draws are rampant. Therefore, people need to be more vigilant and avoid participating in programs if they don't know the source; especially, they should not install unfamiliar applications on their phones, to avoid the risk of being tracked or remotely monitored.

According to the Information Security Department's assessment, this holiday period is a time when hostile forces, reactionary elements, and hackers will take advantage to increase cyberattacks aimed at undermining and disrupting the Party and the State.

The primary targets are information systems, particularly critical information systems of government agencies and organizations.
