Recognizing that important role, Bac Ninh province identified agriculture as one of the 9 priority areas in the digital transformation roadmap; selected a number of potential and advantageous agricultural fields and products for pilot implementation, initially achieving important results.
Efficiency from forest to barn
One of the bright spots in the digital transformation of the province's agricultural sector is the operation of the Forest Protection and Management Monitoring Center with 9 camera systems at high mountain peaks to observe and warn of forest fires, deforestation, and forest encroachment; 19 camera systems placed at forest gates to observe and automatically warn when people and vehicles appear at forest gate areas.
Forest developments are transmitted to the Forest Monitoring, Management and Protection Center located at the Forest Protection Department, and information is also sent to the phone of the officer in charge of the area. |
Mr. Tu Quoc Huy, Head of the Bac Ninh Provincial Forest Protection Department, said that in the context of the province's large forest area, far from residential areas, many places are dangerous and difficult to access, the application of digital technology is extremely necessary. In addition to the function of monitoring, automatically detecting and warning when people and vehicles move to the forest entrance, the cameras are capable of scanning and clearly recording the faces of people and vehicles entering and leaving the forest, supporting the control work of the functional forces. The cameras are capable of observing and recording within a range of more than 14 km, detecting risks of forest encroachment and sending warning information to the central screen as well as smartphones, helping forest rangers determine the location and clearly observe the entire scene of the forest within the management area.
The effectiveness of this system was initially recognized when, at the beginning of this year, through cameras, the forest rangers detected many forest fires, thereby having timely and effective solutions. In addition, Bac Ninh forest rangers are applying the geographic information system to build a forest resource database and monitor the development of forests and forest land in sync with the national Forestry Management Information System (Formis); map software on smartphones helps patrol and manage areas down to each forest plot most effectively.
In the livestock sector, Bac Ninh province has operated an information system, a database for livestock management as well as issued food safety certificates. Building a model of applying digital technology to intercropping grass carp; Biofloc technology to intensive tilapia farming in ponds; information technology in online animal disease management, many livestock farms have applied sensor systems to control the microclimate of the barn, automatic feeding and watering.
In order for digital transformation to bring practical results, in the coming time, the Bac Ninh Agriculture sector will continue to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and national digital transformation. In particular, the task of completing modern and synchronous digital technology infrastructure and improving the level and capacity to access and apply digital technology to agricultural management and production is a top priority. |
The issue of traceability is of concern, typically the Yen The Green Agriculture Cooperative has pioneered the implementation of attaching traceability stamps to Yen The hill chicken products for many years. According to Mr. Giap Quy Cuong, Director of the Cooperative, implementing the traceability process has contributed to building the unit's position and trust with customers. This is demonstrated by the fact that products such as: ham, sausage, chicken sausage, salt and pepper chicken, dried chicken with lemon leaves are all available on the shelves of supermarket chains, convenience stores and restaurants in many provinces and cities... In addition to selling through traditional channels, the Cooperative's products are also promoted, introduced and consumed through e-commerce channels.
Mr. Luong Duc Kien, Deputy Head of the Bac Ninh Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, said that the unit is planning to issue identification codes to livestock farms in the province, thereby providing a basis for tracing the origin of products, contributing to improving the effectiveness of disease safety management and controlling food sources when they are put on the market.
Perfecting digital infrastructure
In digital transformation, one of the solutions that the agricultural sector of Bac Ninh province is interested in is developing smart agriculture based on data platforms, especially big data systems on land, crops, livestock, weather, environment, automating production processes, tracing origins and developing e-commerce. Thereby contributing to overcoming the inherent weaknesses of small-scale, fragmented production, facilitating agricultural products to reach consumers directly. Accelerating the restructuring process of the agricultural sector associated with growth model innovation, shifting from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking, improving productivity and product quality.

The representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the province has built a digital map of concentrated production areas, specialized areas for key agricultural products and codes for growing areas of 10 hectares or more. At the same time, digitizing concentrated fruit growing areas to manage the production process of VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic; building a database of products in key growing areas, applying digital software for scoring, evaluating, and classifying OCOP products. Applying Imetos smart weather technology in fruit growing helps calculate the time of fertilizing, harvesting, and early warning of pests and diseases; automatic irrigation technology, fertilizing plants in greenhouses and net houses; keeping electronic diaries; using drones in sowing rice seedlings, spraying pesticides. In particular, supporting the construction of QR codes, product traceability stamps and virtual space booths on e-commerce platforms for cooperatives and enterprises. In this year's lychee crop, thousands of tons of lychee were consumed through e-commerce channels.
In order for digital transformation to bring about practical results, in the coming time, the Bac Ninh Agriculture sector will continue to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and national digital transformation. In particular, the task of completing modern and synchronous digital technology infrastructure and improving the level and capacity of access, applying digital technology to agricultural management and production is given top priority. At the same time, it will be deployed first for data on agricultural, forestry, fishery production areas, land, soil, geographical indications, weather, processes, production technology, disease prevention and control for crops and livestock.
In addition, continue to apply the Internet of Things industry, update information periodically for database software and maintain connections, share data according to regulations. Organize the implementation of the model of digital transformation villages and communes, in which the key task is to link e-commerce development with the programs: One product per commune, building new rural areas and moving towards smart new rural areas.
