The Department of Agriculture of Dong Thap province will continue to pilot the model of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth.

According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 6 months of the year, the work of preventing and combating drought and salinity was proactively and implemented very early, so there was no shortage of water for production and daily life. The situation of agricultural, forestry and fishery production showed stable growth, with all indicators increasing compared to the same period.

Of which, the crop sector is still the main pillar, while livestock and aquaculture show signs of growth exceeding the planned target. Although the forestry sector has not had a sudden growth, it still maintains a stable position and makes a significant contribution.

In the first 6 months of the year, the disease situation on crops and livestock was stably controlled. The agricultural sector paid attention to and implemented well the management of agricultural material quality. Many policies, strategies, and projects on sustainable agricultural development, green agriculture, circular agriculture, emission reduction... have created conditions for sustainable agriculture, adaptation to climate change...

Producers are increasingly concerned about the production process towards food safety, gradually moving towards safe agricultural production and orienting towards organic production conversion... In addition, the fish export market is growing strongly, so the consumption of pangasius is increasing. The consumption of most aquatic species is also relatively favorable with high selling prices, while feed prices are decreasing, so farmers have profits.

One of the highlights is that the whole province has 2,433 established growing area codes with a total area of 217,589 hectares; 541 key farming facilities have been granted certificates (pond codes) with an area of over 1,965 hectares of water surface, accounting for 45.8% of the farming water surface area. Up to now, the whole province has had more than 12,060 hectares of crops, over 2.054 million livestock and poultry certified for production according to GAP, organic...

The province continues to develop agriculture in the direction of high technology, focusing on smart agriculture, adapting to climate change. Typically, applying 6 smart pest monitoring systems in key rice production areas using technology in tracking insects in light traps; applying technology in animal husbandry; implementing the work of granting and managing growing area codes; continuing to implement programs, projects, and scientific and technological topics related to the application of high technology in agricultural production.

At the same time, the collective economy in the province continues to be focused on strengthening and developing in a modern and effective direction. The province continues to promote the work of connecting and supporting subjects in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program. Up to now, the whole province has 942 OCOP products of 436 subjects, including: 743 products with 3 stars, 189 products with 4 stars, 6 potential 5-star products and 3 products with 5 stars. This shows a positive change in the quality and brand value of local products...

IMPLEMENTING MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS SYNCHRONIZED

To achieve the growth target of the agricultural sector in 2025, in the last months of the year, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will focus on synchronously implementing many solutions. Accordingly, the agricultural sector will continue to direct and operate safe production; monitor the disease situation on crops, livestock and aquaculture to promptly detect, contain and suppress the epidemic, preventing it from spreading widely.

The Department of Agriculture will continue to strengthen the management of growing area codes and packaging facilities in the province.
Dong Thap Province's Department of Agriculture continues to strengthen the management of growing area codes and packaging facilities in the province.

On rice, the agricultural sector will flexibly organize the 2025 autumn-winter rice crop in eligible areas in the eastern districts (an increase of 8,600 hectares of rice with 3 crops/year compared to the same period last year) to increase output.

At the same time, pilot a model of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth to reduce input costs and increase the value of rice grains (scale of 50 hectares); promote the application of advanced farming methods in production...

Regarding crops, the Department of Agriculture will advise people to effectively respond to adverse weather phenomena; proactively take care of and prevent pests and diseases suitable to weather conditions, and protect production. At the same time, use F1 vegetable varieties that are adaptable, resistant to pests and diseases, and have high yields; apply high technology, greenhouses, and balanced fertilization... to production; organize the conversion of ineffective rice land to vegetable crops.

On fruit trees, the Department of Agriculture will recommend farmers to apply improvement measures to improve productivity and quality for old coconut gardens, cultivated for many years. For fruit tree areas during the basic construction period, the Department encourages short-term intercropping to increase crop yield and income for farmers; implement fruit tree crop spreading techniques. In particular, continue to manage the codes of growing areas and packing facilities in the province; organize solutions to overcome cadmium contamination on durian...

In the field of livestock farming, the agricultural sector continues to support farmers in converting to farm scale; guide subjects operating in the field of livestock farming according to the Law on Livestock, the Law on Veterinary Medicine, mechanisms and policies for livestock development.

In the field of fisheries, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will effectively carry out environmental monitoring and warning; prevent and control animal and aquatic diseases in concentrated aquaculture areas in the province. The Department of Agriculture will strengthen patrolling, inspection and control of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, promptly detect and strictly handle IUU fishing activities to create a strong change in the fight against IUU fishing.

At the same time, continue to effectively implement policies to encourage exploitation, aquaculture and seafood exploitation services in offshore areas; continue to support businesses and producers in developing pangasius farming areas and key aquatic products of the province.

One of the important solutions that the agricultural sector has proposed in the last months of the year is to continue building and expanding large-scale concentrated production models towards synchronous application of cost reduction solutions, smart technology, traceability and value chains.

In particular, focusing on implementing and replicating production models according to GAP standards, organic production on key crops and livestock of the province; developing circular economic models, natural economy in agriculture.

The province will continue to maintain contact with purchasing enterprises, processing enterprises, and agricultural producers to promptly grasp difficulties and obstacles in the production and consumption of agricultural products. At the same time, assign specialized staff to coordinate with localities to grasp difficulties in organizing production, harvesting, transporting, and distributing agricultural products to help promptly resolve them.

The Department of Agriculture will monitor the meteorological and hydrological situation and have timely response solutions. In addition, the Department of Agriculture will carry out trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand; manage codes for growing areas and packaging facilities in the province; support the implementation of the OCOP Program; support, consolidate and improve the quality of cooperative operations, etc.
