Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the work of protecting consumer rights in our country has achieved many successes in recent times. However, with the situation of consumer rights violations continuing to be increasingly sophisticated and expanding with many new forms, the results achieved are only the beginning.
In response to the need to continue to have strong, innovative, and comprehensive solutions to effectively promote consumer rights protection, at the Fifth Session of the 15th National Assembly , the Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended) was passed. The Law has added many provisions to regulate new issues arising in consumer rights protection as well as ensure the consistency of the legal system.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade also said that the choice of the theme in response to this year's Vietnam Consumer Rights Day is "Transparent Information - Safe Consumption" to emphasize the meaning and importance of providing transparent information to ensure a safe consumption environment for consumers, the community and the whole society.
This theme also aims to call on agencies and organizations to quickly implement propaganda activities and provide information to society about the Law on Consumer Rights Protection, thereby contributing to early putting the provisions of the law into practice, creating diffusion and consensus in accessing and implementing the provisions of the law...
According to the plan, activities in response to Consumer Rights Day 2024 will focus on March and last until the end of 2024. Activities for consumer rights are encouraged to be organized and implemented throughout the year, focusing on peak business and consumption periods such as: New Year; Lunar New Year, shopping seasons, etc.
At the Central level, a number of activities are expected to be implemented such as: dissemination and propaganda; issuing relevant documents and publications; organizing seminars, training courses, and thematic training courses; showing gratitude to consumers; organizing public events for consumers or competitions to learn about legal regulations, knowledge, business skills, and consumer rights protection, etc.
At the local level, the People's Committees of provinces and cities shall, based on the actual situation, make plans, allocate funds and organize response activities in the area, ensuring that all markets, supermarkets, commercial centers and production and business establishments in the locality have appropriate forms of propaganda and promotion.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also encourages the participation of state agencies, social organizations, businesses and consumers in related activities; gradually making Vietnam Consumer Rights Day an important driving force and highlight in socio -economic life, supporting business activities of enterprises; ensuring basic rights of consumers, especially the right to access information in a transparent and safe manner.
At the launching ceremony, delegates and speakers focused on discussing and sharing the contents of the Law on Consumer Protection, expectations and directions for implementing the law in the coming time. Delegates affirmed that ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of consumers not only promotes consumption activities but also aims to build a sustainable business environment, creating an important driving force for the stable development of the economy.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Ta Dinh Thi emphasized that the Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended) passed by the National Assembly in 2023 has institutionalized the Party's viewpoints, policies and guidelines, concretized the provisions of the 2013 Constitution, overcome the limitations and inadequacies of the 2010 Law on Consumer Rights Protection and met the urgent requirements and demands of practice, the wishes and demands of voters and the people.
To effectively implement the Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended), according to the Vice Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, it is necessary to always clearly identify that protecting consumer rights is a common responsibility of the State and the whole society. In that spirit, the Vice Chairman suggested promoting the proactiveness, positivity and creativity of agencies, organizations and individuals participating in consumer rights protection; continuing to promote information and propaganda with diverse and rich forms and contents, especially on social networking platforms, ensuring suitability with the conditions of each region, locality, agency, organization and subject, focusing on effectiveness and substance; raising awareness of consumer rights protection of market participants...
At the launching ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Trade awarded Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Industry and Trade to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of developing the Law on Consumer Rights Protection 2023.
