Nghe An has built 8,440 houses for the poor and people in difficult circumstances.

This is the data given at the conference to review 1 year of implementing Program 1838 organized by the Steering Committee for mobilizing and supporting the construction and repair of houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances in Nghe An province (Steering Committee 1838) on April 19.

According to the data reported at the Conference to review 01 year of implementing Program 1838, up to now, 149 organizations and individuals have registered to mobilize and support the Program with a total number of houses registered for support of 12,100 units, equivalent to 614,775 billion VND, of which 6,689 units registered to implement in 2023.

Currently, in Nghe An province, there are 16,369 households in need of support for housing construction and repair in the period of 2023 - 2025; of which 16,111 households have been approved with the number of households requesting support for building prefabricated houses being 3,580; the number of households requesting support for new construction being 8,006 and the number of households requesting support for repair being 4,525.

By the end of March 2024, through the implementation of Program 1838 and national target programs, the whole province has built 8,440 houses with a total resource of more than 606 billion VND, of which the resources from Program 1838 alone are more than 596 billion VND.

Specifically, 6,023 houses (3,580 prefabricated houses, 2,086 newly built houses, 357 repaired houses) were completed from the socialized sources of Program 1838; 2,417 houses (1,711 newly built houses, 706 repaired houses) were implemented from the support sources of national target programs, combined with additional support sources of Program 1838.

Through review, in the period of 2023 - 2025, in the whole province, there are still 7,671 houses that need to be completed with a total socialized source needed to complete more than 111 billion VND. Specifically, 2,622 houses need support from Program 1838 (813 newly built houses, 1,825 repaired houses); the remaining 5,049 houses (3,404 newly built houses, 1,645 repaired houses) are supported from national target programs and additional counterpart funds from Program 1838 to ensure the common ground of 50 million VND/house for new construction; 25 million VND/house for repair.

Sharing at the Conference, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy - Head of the Steering Committee emphasized that Program 1838 is one of the social security programs with profound humanistic significance, with the largest scale ever launched and implemented by the province. Supporting the construction and repair of houses for the poor and people in difficult circumstances is one of the important and sustainable bases to help the poor escape poverty and have a better life. The program is launched and implemented throughout the province, striving to be completed within 3 years, supporting the construction and repair of at least 5,000 houses each year on average.

It is known that in Nghe An province, for localities implementing national programs on sustainable poverty reduction (including: Que Phong, Quy Chau, Ky Son, Tuong Duong) with a total number of houses to be built of 4,480 houses/7,686 houses in the whole province (accounting for 58.3%), through the balance of the standing agency, these localities basically have enough resources provided by the Central Government according to the Plan.

Localities: Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, Thai Hoa Town, Hoang Mai Town, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Do Luong, Nghi Loc, Yen Thanh, Thanh Chuong, Anh Son according to the balance of the Standing Agency, these localities have enough capacity to complete the support of the remaining 1,245 houses.

As for localities with difficulties in mobilizing resources (including: Con Cuong, Quy Hop, Dien Chau, Nghia Dan, Quynh Luu, Tan Ky), the number of supported houses is 1,961 houses. It is necessary to continue mobilizing and calling for resources to implement, striving to complete the registration of the district with the province.
