Nghe An issues urgent dispatch directing proactive measures to prevent and combat prolonged cold weather

In recent days, due to the influence of strong cold air, Nghe An has experienced severe cold, affecting people's health, livestock and agricultural production.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this is the strongest cold spell of the winter of 2023-2024. During this cold spell, in Nghe An , the temperature is generally from ^90C to ^110C , in mountainous areas it is lower in some places. In addition, the sea areas in the East Sea have strong northeast winds of level 6-7, in some places level 8, gusting to level 9; the sea is rough. The rough sea situation will last for many days.

To proactively respond to severe cold on agricultural production, protect people's health, minimize damage to production and business, especially agricultural production, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense; Directors of the Departments: Agriculture and Rural Development, Health , Information and Communications; Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, cities, towns and related units to continue to seriously implement Official Dispatch No. 42/CD-UBND dated December 27, 2023 of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on proactively preventing and combating prolonged severe cold. Direct local departments, offices, and professional units to closely monitor, update weather developments, and notify and guide people to proactively implement measures to prevent and combat cold weather, ensure safety for people, and limit damage to agricultural production.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development focuses on directing and closely monitoring weather developments, guiding localities to implement cold and disease prevention and control for livestock, poultry, aquatic products and crops; developing and guiding the Winter-Spring crop production plan, and crop structure suitable to weather conditions.

The Department of Health coordinates with media agencies to disseminate knowledge, guide and advise people to take effective measures to prevent and combat the cold, ensure health safety, avoid the risk of gas poisoning when burning coal and firewood for heating in closed rooms; direct grassroots medical forces to ensure necessary medicine, organize medical examination and treatment for people, especially during the Lunar New Year.

The North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and provides timely information on weather conditions, severe cold, and frost so that authorities and media agencies can convey to the people and proactively deploy effective response measures to severe cold, frost, and frost.

The Department of Information and Communications directs press agencies to increase the frequency and duration of weather forecast bulletins; promote propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on prevention and control of hunger, cold, and diseases for livestock, aquatic products, and crops to authorities and people.
