A bold strategy for a new decade.

Ferrari is preparing for the most aggressive product development phase in the brand's history. The Italian sports car manufacturer has announced plans to launch 20 new models over the five-year period from 2026 to 2030, averaging four models per year. This strategy comes as Ferrari achieves impressive financial success, with profits increasing by 9% in the first half of 2025 and a profit margin of 23.4%, the highest in the automotive industry.

With record sales of 13,752 cars in 2024, Ferrari proves its enduring appeal. However, instead of chasing quantity, CEO Benedetto Vigna affirms that the company's philosophy remains "many models, but each in limited quantities," in order to preserve exclusivity and brand value.

Elettrica: The electric horse's debut

At the heart of Ferrari's future plans is the introduction of its first all-electric model, the Elettrica. This is a revolutionary step, marking the brand's entry into the electrification era. The Elettrica is equipped with four electric motors, producing a total output of over 1,000 horsepower.

The performance specifications of this electric supercar are extremely impressive: it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 310 km/h. Ferrari promises that the Elettrica will deliver a uniquely exhilarating driving experience, including the sound, redefining the feeling behind the wheel of an electric car.

Diversification strategy and commitment to heritage

Despite launching electric vehicles, Ferrari maintains a diversified powertrain strategy. By 2030, the company projects its product portfolio to consist of 40% internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, 40% hybrids, and 20% purely electric vehicles (EVs). This represents an adjustment from the 40% EV target set in 2022, reflecting a more realistic assessment of the market's transition pace.

More importantly, Ferrari reaffirms its strong commitment to the internal combustion engines that have made its name, especially the legendary V12 engine. This ensures that loyal fans will continue to have the opportunity to own pure mechanical machines for many years to come.

Future icons and unexpected comebacks

In addition to the Elettrica, the future product lineup will include upgraded versions of the Ferrari 296, a PHEV variant of the Purosangue SUV, and convertible versions of the Amalfi and F80. Notably, the Icona Series, which honors the brand's heritage, will continue to be developed.

There are reports that a new Icona model, possibly the SP4, will use a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine. Another model might be inspired by the legendary Ferrari F40. Most notably, Product Development Director Gianmaria Fulgenzi revealed that some special customers are requesting the return of a manual transmission on a limited-edition Icona model. This is a surprising possibility, as Ferrari hasn't offered a manual transmission since the 2012 California.

Balancing growth and exclusivity

Ferrari's appeal remains undiminished. Mr. Vigna revealed that the entire production run for 2026 has already been pre-ordered, and new customers will have to wait until 2027 to receive their cars. Ferrari's existing customer base has increased by 20% compared to 2022, reaching approximately 90,000, along with over 32,000 first-time Ferrari owners. By diversifying its portfolio while limiting production of each model, Ferrari is implementing a clever strategy to both expand its customer base and maintain the desirability and value of each car bearing the prancing horse logo.
