Artist Bao Anh was born in 1955 in Kien Giang province, the son of a large family. From a young age, he had a passion for singing, and as he grew older, he was determined to pursue an artistic career and gradually became a key figure in the traditional Vietnamese folk music movement.

In 1974, Bao Anh toured with the district's performing arts troupe for a while, then joined the Huong Tram Cai Luong (traditional Vietnamese opera) troupe in Ca Mau province, gradually striving to become a professional artist. He was a student of Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong and Lan Bich.
With his handsome looks and deep, warm voice, artist Bao Anh was invited to be the lead actor by many major theater troupes such as Tran Huu Trang, Kim Cuong, and Saigon 2 in the early 1980s.
He gained recognition for his plays such as "Bat Trang Folk Tales," "Ngoc Han's Confessions," "Wings of the Lovers," and "Nguyen Ba's Sword."
In addition, the artist also acted in supporting roles in films such as "The Poor Man's Son," "Criminal," "The Rose Mission," "Alluvium," and "The Beauty of Tay Do."
Artist Bao Anh has previously performed alongside artist Phuong Lien in the play "Bat Trang Folk Tales ," and with People's Artist Kim Cuong in the play "The Rose Pinned to the Shirt."
Later, the artist switched to acting and participated in around 30 films, including the long-running television series "The Poor Man's Son " directed by Ho Ngoc Xum, which was loved by many viewers.
