Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn is accused of defrauding victims out of thousands of dollars before poisoning them with cyanide. The suspect was arrested last week after police expanded their investigation into cases dating back several years.

Deputy national police chief Surachate Hakparn said the suspect's husband, a senior police officer, is also facing fraud and embezzlement charges in connection with the murder.
Mr. Surachate said Sararat tricked 15 people into drinking poisoned “herbal pills.” Only one person survived.
"The suspect borrowed money from his acquaintances because he had a lot of credit card debt... and if they asked for the money back, Sararat started killing them," Surachate told reporters. "We are investigating how much money he received from the victims."
Last week, he said the amount involved in each case could run into hundreds of thousands of baht. Both Sararat and her husband have denied the allegations.
Sararat, who is four months pregnant, is facing 14 charges of premeditated murder and one count of attempted murder. Police are investigating three other potentially related cases.
