Phuc Son - a mountainous commune merged from Van Chan district to Nghia Lo town - is divided by mountainous terrain and streams. Mr. Dao Ngoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Son commune said: "As soon as the administrative boundaries were adjusted, the commune was surveyed by the town for its potential and orientation for traditional tourism development. In particular, Lu 1 and Lu 2 villages - where more than 300 Muong ethnic households live - were chosen as points for community tourism development. This is a direction that both preserves indigenous culture and opens up economic development opportunities for the people."

The locality also actively calls on businesses, cooperatives, and cooperative groups to participate in exploiting the advantages of landscapes and local products to form experiential and discovery tours such as: trekking through forests, catching stream fish, learning to make traditional cakes, processing yeast wine, etc.

In addition to promoting traditional festivals such as the Full Moon Festival in January and the "Shining Circle Dance" Contest, the town's tourism is also developing towards a green ecosystem and sustainable value chain. Types of tourism such as community tourism, ethnic minority cultural tourism, heritage - historical tourism, sports tourism, resorts and entertainment are all focused on.

"On every major holiday, especially the 5-day April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, we have carefully prepared and successfully organized unique cultural and artistic programs to attract and serve visitors. These programs not only promote the image of Nghia Lo but also provide an opportunity for local tourism products to get closer to domestic and international tourists" - Mr. Dinh Anh Tuan - Head of the Department of Culture - Information of Nghia Lo town said.

The results achieved after nearly 5 years of implementing key resolutions are clear evidence: in 2024, Nghia Lo town welcomed and served 27,600 tourists; of which, there were 3,200 international visitors; tourism revenue reached 24.9 billion VND. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, revenue from accommodation and food services reached 80 billion VND - the highest number ever. In particular, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the town led the province in attracting visitors and revenue with 71,200 visitors, revenue reaching 64 billion VND.

In addition, a series of newly established enterprises including: 15 enterprises, 7 cooperatives, 32 cooperative groups have come into operation, mostly in the fields of trade - services and resort tourism combined with indigenous cultural experiences. The numbers not only show the "blossoming" in scale but also affirm the right and sustainable development trend of the town.

Not stopping at initial achievements, Nghia Lo town determined that tourism is not only a key economic sector but also a mission to preserve and spread culture. In the coming time, the town will continue to implement many solutions to stimulate tourism, attract domestic and international visitors, expand new markets, and continue to "go ahead and anticipate" trends to make Nghia Lo a unique destination in the Northwest region.
