Research on investment in 5 floating islands on Da Nang Bay, forming a new urban area

On April 25, in preparation for the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly delegation of Da Nang City had a meeting with voters in Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, and Lien Chieu districts.

At the meeting with voters, Da Nang Secretary Nguyen Van Quang informed and answered many important questions to voters in the city.

Regarding the implementation of the Financial Center and Free Trade Zone, the Secretary of Da Nang said that at the upcoming 9th session, the National Assembly will consider and approve a resolution to build an international financial center in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, the Politburo previously concluded that a regional financial center would be built in Da Nang. However, during the construction and research process, ministries and the Government all found that it was necessary to build a Vietnam International Financial Center in two localities, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City met with voters in the city.

It will clearly define the functions of each locality to promote potential advantages, especially the interest of investors in the two localities.

According to the Secretary of Da Nang, the potential and advantages of the Financial Centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang are different.

In Ho Chi Minh City, there are traditional financial institutions, stock exchanges, and a very strong economic ecosystem. Meanwhile, Da Nang City possesses advantages that investors are very interested in, which is its strategic location; Da Nang is located in the middle of Vietnam, making it very convenient to access the North and South for international travel.

In addition, Da Nang has a very attractive living and working ecosystem for human resources working in the finance and technology sectors; has very good security and order. Besides, there is the determination of the city's leaders, businesses and people in building new economic development institutions.

“A few days ago, I received a number of large corporations and billionaires from Singapore who visited Da Nang. They were very surprised when they came to the city for the first time. They saw the potential advantages of Da Nang. They made clear commitments to invest in Da Nang if the city becomes a financial center,” Mr. Quang informed.

New urban area on Danang Bay

The Secretary of Da Nang said that development orientations such as Free Trade Zone, Financial Center or mechanisms to remove difficulties and obstacles issued by the Central Government have created attraction for investors to come to Da Nang.

Especially when the city forms a Free Trade Zone and a Financial Center, these are two new economic forms that will interact and support each other to develop the city.

Da Nang City is the only locality with these two ecosystems, plus policy mechanisms on science and technology development, semiconductors and artificial intelligence, which will create great development momentum for the City.

"The city has many advantages, but how to promote them is the responsibility of the city's Party Committee, government and people," said Mr. Quang.

Da Nang Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang informed about the development of the Free Trade Zone and Financial Center.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang also informed that the City is urgently submitting to the Prime Minister for an early decision on the establishment of a Free Trade Zone.

The development of the Free Trade Zone will form a new economic model to attract investment in the fields of production, logistics, trade and services at a high level. Thereby creating jobs, attracting high-quality human resources, turning Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang areas into developed urban areas soon following the model of today's developed countries.

The Secretary of Da Nang said that the city is researching a project to form a Free Trade Zone, a Financial and Trade Service Center, in the form of calling for investment to build 5 floating islands on Da Nang Bay, creating about 48 km of new sea route on these islands.

Da Nang City is researching the construction of a new urban area on Da Nang Bay.

This is a very large and very special plan. The City is directing careful research and development of the plan; we must find an investment method with special mechanisms to develop similar to the Dubai model.

“If this can be done, it will be of great value, not only promoting the socio-economic development of the city for decades to come but also building the image and brand of a new Da Nang in the region and internationally. The floating island on Da Nang Bay will be a new urban area, stretching from Hai Chau district through Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu,” Mr. Quang informed.

The Secretary of Da Nang also shared that during his recent visit and work in Da Nang, General Secretary To Lam conducted a field survey and highly appreciated this project, and suggested that the Government should soon take measures to support Da Nang in implementing it.

"Da Nang is the first locality to build a city on the sea using this method, we hope the city's voters will support it," said Mr. Quang.
