According to Medical Xpress, new research from Nottingham Trent University (UK) shows that people who exercise or do heavy work can receive great benefits with just 60 ml of water mixed with turmeric, drunk twice a day.

This simple practice will allow you to recover much faster than those who don't drink it, and will also help you avoid aches and pains from heavy workouts, according to a study published in the medical journal Frontiers in Nutrions .

This effect is due to curcumin in turmeric - long known for its anti-inflammatory effects - which helps reduce the concentration of inflammatory cytokines in the blood that appear after strenuous physical activity.

To test the effects of turmeric, a team of authors led by Dr Dave Clayton from the School of Science and Technology at Nottingham Trent University tested volunteers who were football players entering a period of intense training.

After 7 days of monitoring, people who drank turmeric water twice a day seemed to be surprisingly healthy compared to the control group.

Specifically, the concentration of inflammatory proteins in the blood of the group using turmeric was significantly lower than the other group, and they also reported less pain due to muscle damage.

Not only does turmeric help athletes feel comfortable, it also indirectly helps them enter the next training day with better health, thanks to faster recovery.

This is a cheap, easy and safe solution, a good alternative to sports drinks, which can be effectively applied to athletes and even normal people, especially those who practice sports or have to do heavy work.

Adding turmeric to your daily diet is also very easy, especially for Asians. While Westerners often supplement by drinking turmeric-infused water, many Asian cuisines already have dishes that use turmeric as a spice in their recipes.

More and more international research is finding surprising uses for this spice, including dietary supplementation to fight inflammation, improve heart health or develop cancer drugs.
