Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ngoc Chien Commune, said: Tourism development is one of the three strategic breakthroughs. The commune has implemented many creative solutions, exploited existing potentials and mobilized community strength. In the past 5 years, the commune has mobilized social capital to build and upgrade spiritual and cultural tourist attractions such as Don Ho Church; Sa Mu sacred tree; Xu Cong; Coc No Xi Tu... with a total value of about 6 billion VND, mainly from people donating land, labor and money.
In addition, Ngoc Chien focuses on creating unique and attractive landscapes to attract tourists. The villages have built typical village gates, planted five-color flowers, hydrangeas, bauhinia, cherry blossoms, and Talung pears along the roads, creating a brilliant flower valley. The commune has also built impressive tourist routes, such as: Red-leaf stone road, fragrant roses and Koi fish stream in Phay village; Dong Xuong village stands out with artistic stone walls, red cockscomb flower road; Ke village completes the Lau Xa cultural space and Chum road with strong La Ha identity. Unique highlights such as the giant windmill area and 40 water wheels along the stream, bring new and interesting experiences to visitors.
To improve the convenience for the community and tourists, Ngoc Chien has promoted infrastructure investment to serve the community and develop tourism. All 15/15 villages have mobilized 9 billion VND to build cultural and sports grounds. Traffic has been upgraded with 133 roads being expanded and concreted, with a total length of 120 km. The 3 km long double road through Muong Chien village has been installed with an electric lighting system, both facilitating travel and promoting the potential of night tourism. The roads leading to the stream, Pu Danh waterfall and Mong cultural space in Chom Khau village are also being completed, expanding the experience options for tourists.
Ngoc Chien focuses on preserving and promoting traditional culture with a shock art troupe and 45 village art troupes. The commune maintains and teaches folklore through 1 Then singer, 35 Thai singers, 51 Tinh Tau lute artists, 46 panpipe players, 15 flute and leaf trumpet players; collects 11 historical and cultural stories and trains professional tour guides. Unique cultural festivals such as Mung Com Moi and Son Tra flowers are restored, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. The commune issues a code of conduct, builds a civilized tourism environment; and at the same time, establishes the website dulichcongdongngocchien.vn to promote and attract investment.
Currently, the whole commune has 1 Community Tourism Cooperative, attracting 40 stilt house accommodation facilities; 60 bungalows and 120 closed rooms, serving nearly 120,000 visitors each year. Tourism revenue reaches 8-10 billion VND, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers. Mr. Luong Van Xien, Director of Ngoc Chien Community Tourism Cooperative, said: Since its establishment in 2020, the Cooperative has invested in upgrading facilities, standardizing tourism products, completing OCOP criteria and being recognized as 4 stars. Thanks to that, the Cooperative is known to many tourists, from 2022 to now, it has welcomed about 50,000 visitors, earning more than 12 billion VND, creating jobs for 100 local workers.
Located at an altitude of 2,000-2,500 m above sea level, Nam Nghep is the highest village in Vietnam and the largest hawthorn growing area in the country, with about 1,260 hectares. Mr. Khang A Say, Party Secretary and Village Chief, said: In recent years, the village has effectively exploited this advantage to develop tourism. The hawthorn flower festival is held annually, combined with mountain climbing tours of Ta Tao, Ta De, and Ta Chi Nhu, attracting a large number of tourists. Many households and investors have also developed resort services, contributing to making Nam Nghep an attractive destination.
Ms. Dao Hong Khanh, a tourist from Hanoi , shared: On the weekend and right on the 2024 Hawthorn Flower Festival, I took my children to Ngoc Chien. The majestic natural landscape, the largest hawthorn forest in Vietnam and the journey to conquer Ta Tao peak made the whole family excited. We were also very impressed with the cultural space of the Mong people. I love this land and will definitely return to Nam Nghep, Ngoc Chien.
