'Bolero goddess' To My releases MV series remaking old music

The singer who is affectionately nicknamed "Bolero Goddess" by the audience said that throughout many years of working, she has always listened to the audience's opinions to improve herself. Choosing to sing old music and bolero music, To My said she is not afraid to renew herself and her musical products, bringing youthful and modern elements into the mixes, "singing with the perspective and feelings of the next generation, using her own creativity to transform to suit new trends and new lives".

When asked by Thanh Nien reporters why she did not sing bolero in the traditional way but chose to innovate, To My said that she had previously released many bolero products and performed on many stages in a familiar style. Currently, the female singer wants to become more innovative, expanding her audience, so that not only older audiences but also young audiences love her and this music genre.

“Artists who serve hundreds of families cannot avoid receiving many opinions. At first, I was hesitant, but then I decided to renew this music genre to bring youthful, positive energy to the music genre I pursue,” To My said.

In this series of 8 MVs, To My especially likes the song Nang Tho Trong Tranh , composed 4 years ago. Many people commented that they were surprised when listening to Pho Dem, Duyen Kiep... and other old songs, not recognizing the familiar songs in the new, youthful and modern "shirt" performed by To My.

Present at the press conference, singer Mai Thien Van, who had just returned from the US, shared: "To My has a beautiful appearance, possessing both voice and beauty, suitable for the image that young people love. I admire To My because she is one of the young singers following the bolero music genre with carefully invested and dedicated products."

The special feature of this MV series is the “virtual production” technology (virtual film set) often used in Hollywood films, which costs twice as much as MVs filmed on normal sets. With this technology, To My invested in setting up 30 real scenes on the set combined with 3D effects to create realistic and vivid images in the MV. The female singer herself also had to change 24 different makeup styles to film the MV. The costumes she wore were designed by designers Song Toan and Lam Lam, made by 15 skilled workers in 1 month.

In the midst of economic difficulties, To My said she was willing to spend a large amount of money to invest in her music products with the desire to bring well-prepared and satisfying products to viewers. MC Nguyen Khang revealed that when talking to To My's manager, he learned that the investment cost for this 8 MV project was equal to an apartment. "But I don't know if this apartment is in District 1 or Binh Tan," he said jokingly. However, he also emphasized that when it comes to art, no one measures how much they spend.

Singer To My said: “Recently, I have not released many products because I want to devote all my heart to quality products. Although the economy is facing many difficulties, I believe that Vietnamese audiences deserve to enjoy the highest quality music products, regardless of the genre. I myself always have a desire to contribute, to do something for the old music genre, bolero that I am pursuing.”

Sharing about her current life, To My said that recently, she feels blessed by God, fortunately having regular shows, and her beauty business is also stable. Thanks to that, she has the financial resources to make the music products she cherishes.

The Tomy's Secret project will last until 2024, including 2 MVs released before Tet, followed by the remaining 6 MVs. In the new year, To My hopes to organize a series of live shows in the 3 regions of North - Central - South to thank the audience. However, she said that everything depends on the economy, hoping to have enough potential and support from everyone to be able to complete the goal.
