Cua Lo fishermen bring their boats to race at sea

On the morning of April 19, at Cua Lo beach, Nghe An, Vinh city held the opening ceremony of the bamboo boat racing tournament, part of the activities of the Cua Lo Sea Tourism Festival 2025.

Crowds of locals and tourists came to the beach to cheer on the racing teams.

This is the second time this tournament has taken place. This year, there are 16 racing teams from 8 wards and communes in Cua Lo. These are localities with strong infrastructure, strong workforce participating in developing fisheries, experience, and important contributions to the marine economy and tourism development.

The teams competed enthusiastically and determinedly, creating intense and exciting competitions in the 600m race.

The cheers and applause of the audience echoed throughout the beach, creating an extremely exciting atmosphere, opening the new tourist season.

In Cua Lo town, fishing by bamboo boat is not only a livelihood activity but also a unique cultural beauty of Cua Lo people.

The image of boats drifting on the waves has become a symbol of the coastal fishing village here.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Head of the Department of Culture - Science and Information of Vinh city, said: "Through the bamboo boat racing competition, we aim to promote traditional cultural values, introduce the daily life of fishermen in Cua Lo coastal area to tourists near and far."

"Coming to Cua Lo beach this year, I saw many changes. There are no more shops along the beach, it is very airy and the beach is cleaner. I really like watching and experiencing the boat racing activities of local fishermen," said Ms. Tran Hung, a tourist from Thuong Tin, Hanoi.
