The decisive score helped the pair Bright and Quang Duong win.
Fifth-seeded duo Anna Bright and Quang Duong booked their place in the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championship after a thrilling 16-14, 5-11, 12-10 victory over 10th-seeded pair Kate Fahey and Hayden Patriquin.
This match is considered by experts to be one of the best matches of the season on the PPA Tour system this year.
Notably, Bright and Quang Duong reunited for the first time since the World Pickleball Championship last November. They did not disappoint the audience when they created an emotional score chase against the pair Kate Fahey and Hayden Patriquin right from the first set.
In the opening set, Bright and Quang Duong were trailing 4-10. It was a gap that seemed impossible to bridge. However, with a strong competitive spirit, the pair won 6 consecutive points, bringing the match to a 10-10 balance. After nearly 40 minutes of intense competition, they excellently won 16-14.

Not letting the first set defeat affect their spirit, the Fahey and Patriquin pair came back strongly in the second game with an overwhelming play, winning easily 11-5 to drag the match into the deciding set. The audience at the Humana Championship Court witnessed a top-notch competition with technical and speedy moves from both sides.
Set 3 was also a dramatic score chase. The Bright and Quang Duong pair started off like a dream with a 6-1 advantage before the two teams switched courts. The Fahey and Patriquin pair did not give up, fighting back to level the score at 9-9, rekindling the hope of turning the situation around. However, it was Bright and Duong who kept their spirits up to end the match with a 12-10 victory after more than 90 minutes of intense competition.
This match is also special because there are three players from the St. Louis Shock club: Bright, Fahey and Patriquin. Captain Anna Bright shared about the feeling of facing her close teammates: "This is definitely a match that all three of us are looking forward to.
The night before, I was texting Hayden and Kate to tease them. This morning, we continued our war of words. But when we got to Game 3, things got really serious. Everyone wanted to win."
With a ticket to the quarterfinals, Anna Bright and Quang Duong will face the No. 1 seed pair Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns today (May 16, US time). The match promises to be a top confrontation between two generations of top talent in the world of pickleball.
With their performance from the beginning of the tournament, the pair Bright and Quang Duong showed that they can completely become strong candidates for the championship if they maintain this form.
