Get started on the new case
After the batch of chickens for Tet was sold, members of the Tan Viet Commune (Thanh Ha) Commercial Chicken Cooperative quickly cleaned up, sprinkled lime powder around the barns, and sprayed disinfectant. This time, the cooperative plans to raise about 80,000 chickens, equivalent to other crops of the year. The "cooling down" of animal feed prices is one of the advantages for farming households to promote production development.
Currently, Hung Huy Breeding and Livestock Equipment Joint Stock Company in Dinh Son Commune (Cam Giang) supplies 400-500 breeding pigs to the market each month. Currently, the price of breeding pigs is about 1.5 million VND/pig (weight 7kg), down about 20% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the company has about 4,000 reserve pigs.
After Tet, Mr. Dao Van Nho in Lien Hong commune ( Hai Duong city) also focused on restocking his livestock. Currently, Mr. Nho's pig farm maintains 60-70 pigs and 10 sows.
Focus on disease prevention
According to Mr. Pham Dinh Dua, Dua Quyen Poultry Breeding Company Limited in Yet Kieu Commune (Gia Loc), the company currently supplies about 7,000-8,000 breeding chickens to the market every day to meet the needs of farming households, mainly consumed at breeding facilities in the province. Before being sold to the market, 1-day-old breeding chickens are vaccinated.
With a barn size of 15,000m2, Hung Huy Breeding and Livestock Equipment Joint Stock Company always focuses on disease prevention for livestock, ensuring biosafety in livestock farming.
For farmers like Mr. Dao Van Nho, before re-herding, he uses chemicals and lime powder to clean the barn, equipment, and tools to limit the outbreak of disease. In addition, he regularly uses a pressure hose to pump water to clean the floor, walls, and barn, and periodically sprays disinfectant on the barn.
The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends that households and livestock establishments need to carefully study the market to have a suitable herd restoration plan, maintain livestock farming at a reasonable scale, and avoid the situation of supply exceeding demand. According to the assessment of the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the livestock situation in the province is currently stable. Disease prevention work is of concern. However, due to the changing seasons, the risk of livestock and poultry disease outbreaks is high, households and livestock establishments carrying out herd restoration need to pay attention to ensuring disease safety.
In 2024, Hai Duong's livestock industry strives for a production value increase of 3.5% or more compared to 2023. The proportion of livestock accounts for 30% of the production value of the agricultural sector. The total herd of buffaloes and cows in the province strives to reach 20,500, the herd of pigs reaches 450,000, the herd of poultry reaches 16.8 million and strives for the output of livestock and poultry meat to reach 145,250 tons. Of which, pork is 70,900 tons, poultry meat is 71,900 tons, and buffalo and beef meat is 2,700 tons.
