Adjusting social housing completion targets to suit each locality

On the afternoon of July 25, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a national online conference on adjusting the target for completing social housing in 2025 and the following years until 2030. In 2023, the Prime Minister approved the Project to invest in building at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the 2021-2030 period. To date, the country has 692 social housing projects being implemented with a scale of 633,559 apartments, of which 146 projects have been completed with a scale of 103,717 apartments, 124 projects have started construction and are being implemented with a scale of 111,622 apartments; 422 projects have been approved for investment policy with a scale of 418,220 apartments.

Thus, the number of completed, started, and approved investment projects by 2025 reached 59.6% of the Project's target.

Through on-site inspection and synthesis of reports from localities, as of July 15, the whole country has completed over 36,960 units (reaching 37%); investing in the construction of over 111,620 units, of which the possibility of completion in 2025 is over 74,000 units (reaching about 74%).

Localities that are likely to complete or exceed the target include: Hai Phong City, Hue City, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh , Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Tay Ninh. Localities achieving less than 50% include: Can Tho City, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Vinh Long...

For Thai Nguyen province, the target of completing social housing in 2025 is 1,084 units. There are 3 projects being implemented in the province: Social housing project in Dai Thang residential area; Workers' housing project, social housing in Tich Luong ward and Bach Quang social housing project. By the end of 2025, it is possible to complete 1,154 units to ensure the target assigned by the Government.

Concluding the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Construction to coordinate with localities to review all social housing needs and data in the area; report to the Government to consider adjusting targets and agree on solutions to direct implementation close to reality.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that ministries, branches, Party committees and local authorities need to resolutely direct and urge implementation, ensuring the completion of the targets assigned by the Prime Minister, meeting the housing needs of necessary subjects. Some localities that have registered to implement in 2025 need to commit to completing the social housing construction targets on schedule.
