National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed that he always remembers and appreciates the sentiments and personal sacrifices of time, health and finance of Mr. Jacques Savary and Ms. Mic (his wife) to support the health sector and people of Can Tho city.
Mr. Jacques Savary expressed his emotion when meeting again with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife; together they recalled the memories and feelings of the leaders and people of Can Tho when he worked in Vietnam many years ago and the memories when the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation of Can Tho city officials went to exchange experiences in Switzerland and stayed at his family's house.

Mr. Jacques Savary said that after returning to Switzerland, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland and Vietnamese and Can Tho friends who had the opportunity to go to Switzerland all visited and showed his family their warm affection. That is an immeasurable affection.
Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic - two ordinary people from Switzerland, have left a deep mark on the medical sector in Can Tho and the entire Mekong Delta. In 1995, together with a group of doctors and nurses from the Vietnam Medical Aids (VMA) organization, they chose Can Tho as their destination, carrying with them a spirit of volunteerism and the desire to support a healthcare system that still has many difficulties.
Before coming to Vietnam, Ms. Mic was a nurse at Lausanne Hospital, Switzerland; Mr. Jacques was a bioengineer, a man with solid knowledge and a passionate heart.
In the context of the Can Tho health sector still lacking and backward in both human resources and equipment, the support of you and the VMA association is a breath of fresh air bringing many positive changes.
During the 7 years (1995-2002), thanks to the dedicated support of Mr. Jacques and Ms. Mic, hospitals such as Can Tho General Hospital, Can Tho Children's Hospital, and Vi Thanh Hospital were enhanced in expertise, had access to modern equipment, and contributed to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.

In 2002, due to health reasons, the couple returned to Switzerland. However, their love and responsibility for Vietnam continued. The VMA Association has quietly accompanied and continued to support the health sector in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta provinces until today.
The fact that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met Jacques Savary's family again after more than 20 years is proof of the strong bond and friendship between the two sides, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Switzerland friendship.
