People and international friends mourn former President Tran Duc Luong

During the day, Consuls General of countries in Ho Chi Minh City and honorary consuls of international organizations visited formerPresident Tran Duc Luong.

Writing in the condolence book, Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his deepest condolences upon hearing the news of the passing of former President Tran Duc Luong. Former President Tran Duc Luong was an outstanding leader, a pioneer, dedicating his intelligence and strength to the cause of building a prosperous and developed Vietnam.

The Lao Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that former President Tran Duc Luong always cared about and supported the cause of preserving and developing Laos, making great contributions to consolidating the great friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.

“The passing of Mr. Tran Duc Luong is not only a great loss to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, but also a close friend of the Party, State and people of Laos,” Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay wrote in the condolence book in Vietnamese.

Also expressing his grief, Mr. Chan Sorykan, Consul General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City, wrote: “Comrade Tran Duc Luong was a steadfast and visionary leader who made great contributions to the revolutionary cause and the development of the country. He was also a sincere friend of the Kingdom of Cambodia, always cultivating and strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between our two countries. The passing of former President Tran Duc Luong is a great loss not only to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, but also to international friends, including the people of Cambodia.”

In the crowd quietly waiting to pay their respects, Labor Hero Nguyen Xuan Bao (born in 1935) expressed his condolences at the passing of former President Tran Duc Luong.

As the co-editor of the 1/500,000 geological map of the whole country, which was carried out and completed right after the reunification of the whole country, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bao emotionally recalled the memories of working with comrade Tran Duc Luong.

“I and former President Tran Duc Luong knew each other early, gathered in the North and traveled many routes together, have many memories not only in work but also in life. I would like to express my condolences for his passing, we feel like we have lost a family member. I will always remember him, a person who was always friendly with friends”, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bao emotionally shared.
