A shocking video has gone viral on social media, capturing the moment a man woke up and was horrified to discover a giant king cobra slithering onto his bed, even lying on top of him.
Instead of panicking and jumping up, which could have agitated the snake and caused it to attack, the man showed incredible calm. He lay motionless on the bed, even using his phone to record the entire "life-threatening" situation.
The victim's immobility is believed to have been key in avoiding an attack. The king cobra appeared to ignore the man's presence and had no intention of causing harm.
It was only when the animal crawled up to the bedside table and suddenly turned its head, raising its head to look straight at him with a threatening look that the man seized his opportunity. Realizing that the distance was safe enough, he immediately jumped up and escaped from the bed.

Mixed reactions from the online community
The video quickly went viral after being posted, attracting millions of views and creating controversy in the online community.
Many people expressed shock and horror when witnessing the scene of a man facing "death" right in his bed.
"Imagine you're sleeping in bed, opening your eyes and seeing this huge snake staring at you. I definitely wouldn't be calm enough to lie still like that," an X account commented after watching the video.
However, some other opinions said that this is proof that venomous snakes do not always actively attack humans. "The video is proof that venomous snakes do not always actively attack humans. They only attack when they feel threatened or agitated, and if you lie still, the animal probably won't care much," commented another X user.
In addition, many people are skeptical about the authenticity of the video, saying that the venomous snake in the clip could be a pet snake, trained for the purpose of "attracting views". However, this view was quickly refuted by experts and people knowledgeable about reptiles.
"Snakes are cold-blooded animals that cannot be tamed. Even if they are raised from a young age, they will only be less aggressive than wild snakes, but they will still attack their owners at any time if they feel threatened. I don't think king cobras are so easy to play with," said an experienced user of social network X.
Not a rare case
In fact, it is not uncommon for venomous snakes to enter human living areas, especially bedrooms, in some countries like India.
Typically, in 2022, an Indian woman also experienced a "frozen" moment when a highly venomous cobra slithered onto her while she was taking a nap in the garden.

Similar to the above case, the woman remained calm, lay still and continuously called for help. Fortunately, the snake left after a few minutes without harming anyone.
Advice from the experts
Poison experts confirm that king cobras in particular and venomous snakes in general rarely actively attack humans. They usually try to run away when faced with a threat.
When encountering a venomous snake, the most important thing is to stay calm and keep a safe distance. Never try to capture or provoke the snake, as this may cause it to become aggressive and attack.
In a close encounter, like the situation in the video, remaining still is the correct course of action, allowing the animal to move away without feeling threatened.
