House fire in Hanoi, 5 people in a family died

A four-story house with an attic located deep in lane 180, Kim Hoa street, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward, caught fire, killing a family of five on the morning of October 11.

At about 5:15 a.m., a house of more than 30 square meters located deep in alley 12, lane 17, lane 180, Kim Hoa street caught fire. Inside the house were a couple in their 60s, their son and his wife, and their 6-year-old grandson.

The fire was high, the house was designed like a tube, the facade was fenced with iron from top to bottom so people inside could not escape.

Hearing the screams at 5:15, Mr. Thanh, who was 20 meters away from the burning house, rushed out and saw his neighbor's house on fire, with smoke pouring out. Urgent cries for help were heard from inside the house, but the iron and glass doors on the first floor were locked.

Mr. Thanh and the surrounding residents used crowbars for 30 minutes to break down two layers of doors, used about 30 mini fire extinguishers, and the apartment next door used a hose to spray water, but could not stop the fire.

The first floor had an electric car, two gasoline motorbikes and many household appliances, so the smoke and fire were very strong, spraying out, everyone had to run away.

"We heard the cries for help but couldn't do anything. If only we had built an emergency exit in the tiger cage, with a mattress underneath, and the people inside could have jumped down and escaped," said Mr. Thanh.

The body was wrapped in a blanket and taken out.

Previously, on the evening of October 10, another fire broke out in a residential area deep in an alley on De La Thanh Street (Lang Ward, Hanoi ).

The fire broke out fiercely on the top floor of the four-story building, creating a large column of smoke. According to witnesses, right before the fire rose, there were many loud explosions in the area, then thick black smoke rose.

People around the area shouted, moved their belongings out and helped evacuate the elderly and children.

The fire did not cause any casualties or damage and the cause is being investigated by authorities.
