Một người đàn ông 60 tuổi đã suýt mất mạng sau khi làm theo lời khuyên từ ChatGPT loại bỏ muối ăn (natri clorua) khỏi chế độ dinh dưỡng hằng ngày.
A 60-year-old man nearly lost his life after following advice from ChatGPT to eliminate table salt (sodium chloride) from his daily diet.

According to LiveScience, after reading about the negative health effects of salt, the 60-year-old man in Washington (unnamed) asked ChatGPT how to replace sodium chloride in his diet.

Following the instructions he understood, he decided to replace salt with sodium bromide – a compound that was used medicinally in the early 20th century, but is no longer used today due to its toxicity when consumed in high doses.

According to the report published in the Journal of the American College of Physicians, the patient took sodium bromide for three months after ordering it online.

After a while, his health began to deteriorate, forcing him to be hospitalized. At the hospital, he even expressed suspicions that his neighbors had secretly poisoned him, making diagnosis difficult.

Initially, the patient did not disclose any medications, supplements, or special diets he was taking. However, during the course of treatment, he revealed that he was following an extremely strict diet and even distilled his own water at home for use.

After conducting tests and clinical monitoring, doctors determined that he had "bromide poisoning".

Notably, during his hospital stay, the patient also began to experience neurological symptoms, including paranoia, hallucinations, and skin problems.

A passage in the report states: "He was always thirsty but paranoid and refused water when offered."

According to NDTV, bromide salts were once used in over-the-counter drugs to treat conditions such as insomnia, anxiety or mood disorders.

However, studies have long shown that consuming high doses of bromide can lead to serious damage to the nervous system and other organs in the body.

Fortunately, after being treated with intravenous fluids and electrolyte supplements, the patient's health gradually stabilized, and he was transferred to the psychiatric inpatient department for further monitoring and recovery.
