Journey to overcome prejudice and find yourself

Born in 2005 in Quang Ngai but raised in Binh Duong , Huynh Ngoc Kim Ngan (candidate number 392) is 1.77m tall with measurements of 84-62-90cm.

Kim Ngan impressed with her impressive academic achievements: Top student in the Literature major at Quang Trung High School for the Gifted, Binh Phuoc province in 2020, won the first prize for excellent students at the provincial level and the national Encouragement prize for Literature in 2023. Currently a student at Eastern International University, Kim Ngan continuously receives scholarships and owns an IELTS certificate of 7.5.

Behind those achievements is a difficult process of overcoming oneself. "When I was young, I went through a period of being criticized for my body shape because of my chubby and overweight body. I dreamed of being in the performing arts team of my primary and secondary school, but because of my disproportionate body, I never had the chance to achieve that dream," she shared.

At the peak, Kim Ngan was nicknamed "green giant" which deeply hurt her. Instead of letting that defeat her, she decided to change herself by losing weight and eating healthier to have a balanced body.

Aspiration to inspire

Kim Ngan enjoys journaling and reading. She spends 30 minutes every night writing about her experiences, emotions, and lessons learned during the day. "This habit helps me face myself honestly, see things from multiple perspectives, and find solutions to difficulties."

She did not hide her biggest failure when she only won the consolation prize at the national excellent student exam in Literature in grade 12 despite being the valedictorian. Kim Ngan realized that she was not mentally prepared enough, did not really believe in her own abilities and sometimes let the fear of failure control her.

From this failure, Kim Ngan learned a valuable lesson about persistently pursuing her passion. She participated in cultural and artistic activities, public speaking, and edited the university magazine to build her confidence. She realized that "a person's value does not lie in awards or titles. Failure in the excellent student exam does not mean failure for life."

Another memorable memory of Kim Ngan is the early mornings when she followed her grandmother to the local market when she was a child. One morning, a poor old vegetable seller was criticized by some people for having wilted vegetables and offered a low price. Mrs. Kim Ngan came, bought all the vegetables at a higher price, and gently explained: "My child, sometimes the value of a job is not in the product but in the dignity you give to others. That saying is deeply imprinted in my mind and became the motivation to participate in Miss Cosmo Vietnam", Kim Ngan shared.

Meaningful project

Coming to Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2025, Kim Ngan brought with her the Live Happy and Healthy project to support cancer patients, initiated after witnessing her beloved aunt with breast cancer go through not only physical pain but also financial and mental burdens. The most meaningful activity is the Loving Hair program - where Kim Ngan and many volunteers cut hair to make wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

"Through this action, I want to send the message that true beauty lies in empathy and action for others. The project not only provides material support but also creates a community where cancer patients feel understood and have hope," she shared the meaning of the project.

Kim Ngan wishes to have more time to learn ethnic minority languages and learn more about the cultures of ethnic groups in Vietnam. For her, influential beauty is the ability to create positive change, inspire and support others.
