(CLO) For 2 days, December 13 and 14, at the City Convention Center, the Hai Phong City Journalists Association held the 8th Congress of the Hai Phong City Journalists Association, term 2024-2029. With the motto "Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development", in the past term, the Hai Phong City Journalists Association continued to promote its role in connecting branches and clubs, gathering and uniting members, implementing movements, being dynamic, innovating activities, building the Association to become more and more mature and developed.

Hai Phong City Journalists Association currently has 4 city press agencies, 03 press agencies of the armed forces including: Hai Phong Newspaper, Hai Phong Radio and Television Station, Cua Bien Magazine, Science Magazine - Hai Phong University, Vietnam Navy Newspaper, Military Region 3 Newspaper, Hai Phong Security Special Topics Department. In the area, there are 59 central and provincial press agencies with representative offices and resident reporters.

Hai Phong city press agencies are constantly innovating in the form and content of propaganda; providing and transmitting diverse, timely and accurate information not only in traditional press forms, but also posted on social networking platforms. Broadcast time and the number of publications are maintained and constantly increasing.

Over the past 5 years, Hai Phong's press activities have developed remarkably in many aspects, with increasingly diverse press types, meeting the development trend of professional and modern journalism. The number of press agencies has been maintained stably, the number of publications and broadcasting time has increased; the quality of content and form has been significantly improved. The number of journalists and press staff in press agencies has increased in both quantity and quality (an increase of 70 members compared to the previous term), the number of press audiences in the city and nationwide has also increased significantly.

The city's press system has increasingly affirmed its role as a forum for the people, a channel for active social criticism, promptly detecting issues arising in the organization and implementation of the Party and State's policies. Always upholding the responsibility with the constructive spirit of journalists in analyzing and evaluating some limitations and inadequacies in the implementation of policies and decisions of competent agencies.

Every year, the City Journalists Association spends time to comprehensively evaluate all aspects of work, attaching importance to the practicality of activities organized by grassroots units, thereby promptly praising collective units and individuals with achievements. At the same time, it points out limitations and shortcomings so that units can supplement and adjust them in a timely manner when building the annual work program. Thanks to that, the branches and inter-branches of journalists have been very creative in recent times, gradually innovating their working methods, contributing to improving the overall quality of the City Journalists Association's activities.

Journalist Nguyen Anh Tu - Permanent Vice President of Hai Phong Journalists Association shared: We determined that in order to achieve many good results, from the Standing Committee of the City Journalists Association, the Executive Committee to members of the branches and branches of the Journalists Association, we must innovate our working methods. Every year, the City Journalists Association will find out the urgent issues and requirements that members need to promptly support. Such as in training members to approach modern journalism methods, other specialized content. From there, not only improving the professionalism of journalists but also creating many high-quality press products to serve readers.

Thanks to that, during the past term, the most outstanding point of the City Journalists Association was that from having few press works winning the National Press Award, Hai Phong press won 5 C prizes and many Encouragement prizes of the National Press Award, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award and the Dien Hong Award. At the National Radio and Television Festivals, Hai Phong Radio and Television Station won many Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards and was encouraged by the Chairman of the City People's Committee to receive Certificates of Merit...

Many practical activities create a vibrant competitive atmosphere

In the past time, the City Journalists Association has closely followed the key tasks and key contents, launched emulation movements associated with major local political events; organized many exciting activities. In particular, maintaining the organization of the Hai Phong City Spring Press Festival and the Hai Phong City Press Awards held every 2 years, the Association is honored to be assigned by the city as the Standing Agency of the Hai Phong City Press Awards.

Hai Phong Journalists Association alone organized 5 press competitions (including the Press Competition on "Excellent Party Members in 2019" and 4 Press Competitions on the theme "Joining hands to build an industrial, modern and civilized city" in accordance with the direction of the Politburo in Resolution No. 45, dated January 24, 2019 "on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045".

In addition, the Association also coordinated with the Department of Tourism to organize a Press Award on the topic "Hai Phong Tourism - Experience and Discovery", and with the Department of Education and Training to organize a Photo Contest "Teachers and Life". Participated in organizing a Press and Photo Contest on the topic "Hai Phong Tourism - Accelerating Recovery, Accelerating Development"; Contests organized by the City Police to write about the topic of People's Police...

Through organizing Press Awards and Press Competitions, we have created an attractive "playground", attracting the active participation of journalists, encouraging and motivating members and journalists to constantly improve their professional qualifications and skills, and compete to create high-quality press works.

Permanent Vice President of Hai Phong Journalists Association Nguyen Anh Tu said, We always think about how to create healthy and useful playgrounds for journalist members. We try to find unique and special content of Hai Phong City to organize, including many activities related to propaganda about sea and islands, seaport development, marine economy, tourism... those topics have attracted many members to participate.

“We always try to come up with solutions in the context that members have a lot of professional work in their units. The Executive Committee must find out what difficulties members are facing in their work, what support they need, and how to combine the content of the events to create exciting and attractive activities for members to participate in. And when participating directly, members will find it effective, useful and actively respond. The most important thing is that those who work for the association must always try to explore, be creative, and have the spirit of the common movement to attract more members to participate,” added journalist Nguyen Anh Tu.

It is known that in 2 days, December 13 and 14, at the City Convention Center, Hai Phong City Journalists Association, the 8th Congress of Hai Phong City Journalists Association, term 2024-2029 took place. The Congress discussed topics such as: "Building a cultural press agency associated with strict implementation of military discipline"; "Responsibilities of members towards the Association"; "Access to information technology achievements, digital platforms to meet the requirements of journalism in the period of the 4.0 technology revolution"; "Improving the ethical responsibility of journalists in the 4.0 period". The Congress will also elect comrades to the Executive Committee, comrades to the Inspection Committee for the term 2024 - 2029.

The Congress of the Hai Phong Journalists Association is an opportunity for all members to promote the glorious tradition of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press and the Port City Press, to strengthen their mettle, confidence, and creativity, and strive to become "Hai Phong journalists with a solid career, bright mind, professionalism, modernity, and humanity", in order to successfully carry out the Association's key tasks in the new term 2024 - 2029, worthy of the trust of the Party Committee, government, army, and people of Hai Phong city.
