Ms. Phuong informed VietNamNet reporter that 4 days ago, model and designer Nam Phong had chest pain and difficulty breathing so he went to People's Hospital 115 in Ho Chi Minh City for examination. The doctor diagnosed him with a relapse of lung disease.

Nam Phong's condition worsened and he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he suddenly fell into a deep coma from around 6:00 p.m. on July 8 until now.

"According to the doctors, Phong had a history of lung disease and a severe Covid-19 infection. His lungs were already severely damaged, so his illness worsened rapidly," she choked.

The doctors gave a poor prognosis and were unable to intervene further. Ms. Phuong decided to give him oxygen and take him back to his hometown of Ca Mau to pass away there.

Ms. Phuong added: "When Phong was taken to the ICU, relatives were not allowed to visit. Phong was in a coma so he did not have time to say anything. Before that, both Phong and his family did not think his illness would progress so quickly."

Nam Phong's real name is Ngo Quang Phong, born in 1989 in Ca Mau. Coming from a poor background, Nam Phong pursued his passion for modeling, making his mark when he entered the top 5 of the Spring Fashion contest in his youth and won the Bronze prize in the Model Star contest.

Later, Nam Phong switched to fashion design, becoming a familiar name to many artists such as: Dan Truong, Quach Tuan Du, Luong Gia Huy, Nhat Tinh Anh, Luong Bang Quang, Quoc Dai, Thanh Thao, Akira Phan, Cao Thai Son...

In December 2024, he was admitted to District 1 General Hospital (HCMC) in critical condition due to complications after Covid-19, then transferred to Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital. After 25 days of active treatment, the model's health temporarily stabilized and he was discharged from the hospital.
